\n \u201cBachelorette\u201d Rachel Lindsay is ready for her close-up \u2014 on two different TV shows.<\/p>\n

Lindsay, the first African-American star of ABC\u2019s long-running franchise, has joined the \u201cExtra\u201d team as a full-time correspondent \u2014 and, with Travis Mills, returns to co-host \u201cGhosted: Love Gone Missing.\u201d Season 2 premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

On the show, Lindsay and Mills help distraught people track down ex-friends and lovers who, without explanation, cut off all contact with them, a social<\/a> phenomenon called \u201cghosting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like I can relate to that,\u201d says Lindsay, 35. \u201cI\u2019ve been there and I know what it\u2019s like to not have that closure, to be stuck in a spot where you\u2019re wondering what happ<\/a>ened. Was it me? How do I enter my next relationship?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cTravis and I have these stories,\u201d she says. \u201cWe can relate and we can help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindsay, who starred on Season 13 of \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d in 2017, says she was ghosted 11 years ago by a guy she dated on-and-off for about four years. When she tried to call him, he had changed his phone number \u2014 and completely vanished from sight.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was before Instagram and Twitter so there was no way of getting in touch with him,\u201d she says. \u201cThere was no way to know what happened. Even mutual friends were like, \u2018We don\u2019t really know what\u2019s up.\u2019 It wasn\u2019t until two years later \u2014 and I never had a boyfriend in-between \u2014 that I ran into him and he told me the reason he left was because he didn\u2019t know how to end it with me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t even talk about it that much because it was so embarrassing for me,\u201d she says. \u201cI was ashamed. The more I started talking about it the more I realized, \u2018Oh my gosh, this is actually a thing that\u2019s happening to a lot of people. This is how relationships are being handled.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019ve been there and I know what it\u2019s like to not have that closure.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lindsay says that she\u2019s never ghosted anyone in the strict sense of the word.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know there are degrees of ghosting,\u201d she says. \u201cMaybe I went on a date with someone and I really didn\u2019t respond to their messages afterward. Maybe they got the hint, but I never blocked anyone \u2026 I was just slow in my responses, so they understood what was happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hate to say that because I feel like somebody is going to come out the woodwork now and say, \u2018Yes, actually you did.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindsay, who\u2019s now married to Bryan Abasolo \u2014 he was a \u201cBachelorette\u201d contestant when she hosted the series<\/a> \u2014 was recently hired as a correspondent for \u201cExtra\u201d as the veteran news<\/a>magazine enters its 27th season Sept. 8. She first joined the show, hosted by Billy Bush, as a special correspondent last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had a chance to interview great people such as Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Samuel L. Jackson and Oprah Winfrey,\u201d she says, \u201cand to do very fun red carpets. \u2018Extra\u2019 has really trusted me with a lot and at this point I\u2019m more interested in telling stories \u2014 and now I have that platform.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
