George Santos\u2019s (R-N.Y.) $500,000 bond in his criminal fraud case.<\/p>\n<p>The order is a blow to Santos, whose attorney Monday asked a judge to keep the names of the bond cosigners sealed. The congressman\u2019s lawyer, Joseph Murray, expressed concern for the sponsors should their identities be revealed, citing a \u201cmedia frenzy\u201d around the Santos case.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIf this Court is so inclined to unseal the sureties, we truly fear for their health, safety and well being,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Magistrate Judge Anne Shields gave Santos until noon Friday to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eal the ruling, ordering the names to remain under seal in the meantime.<\/p>\n<p>Murray previously indicated Santos would rather go to jail ahead of trial rather than allow the suretors to face the public attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy client would rather surrender to pretrial detainment than subject these suretors to what will inevitably come,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n<p>The Hill has reached out to Murray and Santos\u2019s congressional office for comment.<\/p>\n<p><em>DEVELOPING.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
