The event\u00a0will showcase cels actually used in the anime film AKIRA<\/em><\/strong> that Otomo directed himself in 1988 based on his own manga of the same name. As a related project to OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS, it will be held at Mixalive TOKYO in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from August 10 to 31, 2023.<\/p>\n

Those rare items were reportedly found at Otomo’s house. Otomo wrote on Twitter in early May: “I was looking for layouts and found a lot of cels. They were quite beautiful, so I thought I’d share them with you. Those are just the ones that happ<\/a>ened to be stored in my\u00a0house, not all of the scenes are included. But I think they are very valuable because they are 40 years old.”<\/p>\n
