\n Disney fans are hoping one of the most popular rides will get a redo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Splash Mountain, a ride inspired by the film \u201cSong of the South,\u201d is a major attraction at both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSong of the South\u201d is a 1946 film considered by many to be the studio\u2019s most racist, criticized for its stereotypes of black people and its app<\/a>arent nostalgic view of the antebellum South. The film is best known for the song \u201cZip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Several petitions have popped up recently, CNN reports, calling for Disney to remove all mentions of the movie from the ride. <\/span>While the ride\u2019s storyline is not an exact depiction of the movie, it features characters including Br\u2019er Rabbit, Br\u2019er Fox and Br\u2019er Bear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans have even offered a solution to re-theme the ride. <\/span>One fan took to Twitter<\/a> to showcase his concept for the \u201cPrincess and the Frog\u201d theme, and others created and signed a Change.org<\/span> petition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over 2,000 people have signed the petition as of Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The call for change comes as many are confronting their own biases and potential racist histories. People are taking to the streets to protest for the Black Lives Matter movement, and many controversial statues and monuments are being torn down.<\/span><\/p>\n

Disney has decided to keep the movie \u201cSong of the South\u201d in the vault, not releasing it on Disney , due to the criticisms of racism, according to CNN. <\/span>\n <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
