{"id":578276,"date":"2023-06-12T01:43:40","date_gmt":"2023-06-11T22:43:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/eric-holder-trump-conviction-could-lead-to-impeachment-removal-from-office\/"},"modified":"2023-06-12T01:43:40","modified_gmt":"2023-06-11T22:43:40","slug":"eric-holder-trump-conviction-could-lead-to-impeachment-removal-from-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/eric-holder-trump-conviction-could-lead-to-impeachment-removal-from-office\/","title":{"rendered":"#Eric Holder: Trump conviction could lead to impeachment, removal from office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/holdereric_121819getty.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Eric Holder said on Sunday that a possible conviction of former President Trump, if he\u2019s elected to a second term as president in 2024, would lead to an impeachment proceeding and him being eventually removed from office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During an <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance on MSNBC\u2019s \u201cInside with Jen Psaki,\u201d host Jen Psaki mentioned to Holder about Trump remaining committed to his 2024 presidential campaign, despite facing his second indictment in the past two months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWell, the notion that you could have a trial, defend it, be convicted, somehow win the election, be sworn in as a president, or whenever it happens, that seems inconsistent with our notion of fairness, of the rule of law,\u201d Holder told Psaki.\u00a0 \u201cAt that point, I would hope that it impeachment proceeding might be considered. Not only considered, brought. And, ultimately, he would be moved from office.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe notion that a convicted felon, convicted felon, would serve as president of the United States is absurd. It\u2019s simply absurd,\u201d Holder added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked if there should be an impeachment hearing and proceedings in Congress if Trump is convicted, Holder agreed, saying in part that people have \u201cunderestimated the impact of this indictment,\u201d also noting Trump\u2019s indictment in a Manhattan court in April and the ongoing investigations he faces in Georgia and in Washington, D.C.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a political pundit, but I think at some point, you certainly won\u2019t get beyond, you know, the Trump cult base, but for people who are on the fringes of that, the outside of that, are likely to have been negatively impacted by all of these cases brought against the former president,\u201d Holder added. \u201cI think that that will have some electoral effect.
