The move is part of the American automaker\u2019s push to make its entire European passenger vehicle lineup all-electric by 2030.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originally opened back in 1930, Ford has spent the past two years \u2014 and $2bn \u2014 redeveloping the facility into a solely EV manufacturing centre.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cologne Electric Vehicle Centre will produce Ford\u2019s next-gen EVs, the first of which will be the electric Explorer, followed by a yet-to-be-named sports crossover.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plant is expected to churn out over 250,000 vehicles per year, a big chunk of Ford\u2019s target to build two million EVs globally each year by the end of 2026. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019ve built nearly 18M vehicles at our assembly plant in Cologne since 1931.
