He separately agreed to enter a pretrial diversion program on a gun charge, a charge that is likely to be removed from his record if he complies with the terms of the program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThis was a five year, very diligent investigation pursued by incredibly professional prosecutors, some of whom have been career prosecutors, one of whom at least was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed by President Trump,\u201d Clark said during an appearance on MSNBC with Katy Tur.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I can tell you is, they were very diligent, very dogged. This was \u2013 it took five years and it was five years of work that they put in, and even throughout working out the ultimate resolution, I think that they were always driving for what they thought was fair.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"More_Hunter_Biden_coverage_from_The_Hill\"><\/span>More Hunter Biden coverage from The Hill<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">Voices across the Republican Party on Monday complained of the terms of the plea agreement, which still has to be approved by a judge.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Trump\u2019s son Donald Trump Jr. said it reflected a double standard while House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called it a \u201csweetheart deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt continues to show the two-tier system in America,\u201d McCarthy said of Hunter Biden\u2019s plea deal. \u201cIf you are the president\u2019s leading political opponent, the DOJ tries to literally put you in jail and give you prison time. But if you are the president\u2019s son, you get a sweetheart deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark pushed back on McCarthy directly.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve heard Speaker McCarthy say a lot of stuff I don\u2019t agree with. There was no basis for what he said. And he\u2019s not right,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Clark later said he\u2019s unsure whether someone who was not as high profile as Biden would have been prosecuted for the crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very clear he didn\u2019t timely pay the taxes he was supposed to pay at the time. He subsequently has paid them, but he didn\u2019t timely pay them. I think it\u2019s a very hard question whether I would have been prosecuted for that or not.
