Yellowstone<\/em><\/a> creator Taylor Sheridan says he’s “disapp<\/a>ointed” about Kevin Costner<\/a>‘s exit, but it’s out of his control.<\/p>\n

Sheridan discusses the rumors around the star’s headline-making departure<\/a> \u2014 as well as the fate of rancher John Dutton III as the Paramount Network show concludes \u2014 in a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>He says he and Costner always had open communication \u2014 until lawyers got involved.<\/p>\n

“My last conversation with Kevin was that he had this passion project he wanted to direct,” Sheridan said of Costner’s four-part movie series<\/a>, titled Horizon: An American Saga, <\/em>which the actor-director mortgaged his home to fund<\/a>. “He and the network were arguing about when he could be done with Yellowstone<\/em>. I said, ‘We can certainly work a schedule toward [his preferred exit date],’ which we did.”<\/p>\n
