h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ily reclusive artist quinn opened up her world last summer in the lead-up to her sophomore album, <i>quinn<\/i>, begrudgingly submitting to the conventions of the press cycle. This move from the shadows of internet cult fandom into the harsh light of day yielded valuable insight into the 18-year-old DMV native\u2019s background and process (look no further than her FADER Interview with Jordan Darville for some deep-cut gems).<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            Since the release of the latter record, however, she\u2019s returned to her old ways, dropping short-form releases without warning as she did in her salad days under several different monikers. The latest of these, <i>slaps<\/i>, is three short-and-sweet tracks (though relatively long by quinn\u2019s terms) that lean into the hip-hop elements of her pan-genre pallette. She opens with \u201cthraxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,\u201d a song designed to make you worry on the dance floor, before moving into \u201clongterm drugstory,\u201d in which she affects a detached irony toward her subject matter that\u2019s somehow even more panic inducing. She carries this depressed nihilism into the tape\u2019s closer, \u201csheet of acid,\u201d but the desperation underneath it is clear to anyone who\u2019s listening closely.<\/p>\n<p>            These contradictory statements are part and parcel of quinn\u2019s schema for <i>slaps<\/i>, which she graciously broke down for The FADER via email. is a study in contradictions\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper\" style=\"margin-top: 20px;\">\n<p>\u201cthe cover art is my grandma\u2019s basement, she has a first half where it\u2019s just as big but it has finished walls + a huge sofa that numerous family members camped on from all different generations. the clothes up on that rack are a combination of my brother\u2019s and uncle\u2019s clothes since they lived there with her at the time the photo was taken (circa 2021).<\/p>\n<p>\u201call of my cover art has something to do with my life or my childhood, and with my mixtapes being baby pictures, i figured i could switch it up some and for the EP i could use a place i grew up in and slap one of my graffiti stickers on the bottom. i like to use graffiti in my cover art sort of as a thing where it looks like i\u2019m vandalizing the cover art,  i\u2019m vandalizing photos of places i\u2019ve made some of my best and worst memories. i like to leave the reason why up for interpretation but there is a reason behind why i chose to start doing it.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-249133\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<h5 class=\"headline\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"quinn_on_slaps\"><\/span>\n        quinn on <i>slaps<\/i><br \/>\n      <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            \u201cthe tape itself, audibly it\u2019s all about balancing my friendships and relationships while being constantly under the influence from all kinds of substances that i like to experiment with in my day-to-day life. so i structured it like a short <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            \u201cthen you get to the second track which is that im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te plunge into the biggest pit your stomach could possibly carry and now it\u2019s just a panic attack and you\u2019re wondering what happened and how things got that bad. by the end of the song i\u2019m slowing things down a bit after realizing i\u2019m not gonna come to a conclusion as of why i feel the way i feel so i\u2019m just gonna submerge myself into the pain and get comfortable for the long haul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            <iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 42px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=4180270297\/size=small\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/track=1528856696\/transparent=true\/\" seamless><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/trenchdog.bandcamp.com\/album\/slaps\">slaps by quinn<\/a><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>            \u201cthat leads us to the last track, which is \u201csheet of acid\u201d: depressing, lackadaisical, off-the-dome lines over a dramatically somber drone with some drums attempting to better the mood but obviously failing. this track is basically saying, \u2018well this is how it\u2019s gonna be for a very long time and i know you don\u2019t like it but you have no choice but to live with it.\u2019 then it just ends desperately. it\u2019s not a good or a bad ending because i\u2019m still alive. only the future will decide which ending it has and it\u2019ll be based on the decisions i make.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px;
