The targets of the group\u2019s ire \u2014 exorbitant bottle service with pricey minimum spends, opulent, closed-off sections, and moody rap songs with way-too-low BPMs \u2014 have slowly eaten away at precious dancefloor space in clubs and stiffened crowds. After gulping a bite down, he continues, \u201cWe don\u2019t want niggas sitting on the wall. A down-low freak is too common, you know what I\u2019m saying? I want to be able to know who the freak is when I\u2019m looking at her.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            The Detroit trio \u2014 MCs\/producers King Milo and Milf Melly, DJ 47Chops \u2014 aren\u2019t the only ones concerned about the way we party, but the group\u2019s kinetic blend of influences \u2014 ghettotech, footwork, juke, and rap \u2014 distinguish them from the rumbling, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GV3eFksTiyk\">eighth note<\/a> clap-obsessed songs coming <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SYO5FpGbsqs\">out of Milwaukee<\/a> locally known as \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/entertainment\/music\/2023\/05\/16\/milwaukees-lowend-rap-scene-certified-trapper-ayoolii-jp\/70146209007\/\">lowend music<\/a>\u201d and club rap upstarts from the East Coast. Their industrial sound, inspired by hometown pioneers like DJ Assault and DJ Snowflake, is on some unmistakably Detroit shit (On top of that: Milo and Melly originally met at a Babyface Ray concert the former was performing at). <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-248685\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>            According to an interview in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/toneglow.substack.com\/p\/tone-glow-092-hitech\">Tone Glow<\/a>, the group\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/omar-s.bandcamp.com\/album\/hitech\">self-titled 2021 debut<\/a> got a wider re-release on Omar S\u2019 FXHE Records last summer after Melly handed the Detroit stalwart a copy of the project\u2019s original 15 CD run at an event. <i>HiTech<\/i> is a blast of raw and unfiltered energy that\u2019s as fun-forward as it is crass. (\u201cHenny Runtz,\u201d for example, is probably the only ode to Backwoods you can jit to). <i>D\u00c9TWAT<\/i> is hot-blooded, hysterical, and somehow even more unrestrained than <i>HiTech<\/i>, a worthy follow-up that demonstrates the group\u2019s ability to keep their eyes focused on the future and with an ear pointed back at the past. <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            \u201cI feel like we stuck in the time of nostalgia and everything is just like re-runs,\u201d Chops said. \u201cIt\u2019s like we\u2019re creating some shit at a time where people is looking for some new shit.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>            One of the first noises heard on <i>D\u00c9TWAT<\/i> is the sound of a person panting. It\u2019s a fair warning for what\u2019s next: 28 panicked and carnal minutes with little breathing room. The album plays like a night out at a sticky-floored club where you\u2019re unsure if the smell hitting your nostrils is sweat, cheap well liquor, weed, or a mutated fusion of all three. But none of that matters when you\u2019re dancing. \u201cZOOTED\u201d never stops ramping up the intensity, eventually exploding into a collage of squeaks and thunderous claps. \u201cBIRTHDAY PEARLS\u201d and \u201cTEETEES DISPO\u201d are both propelled by shimmering beats that feature heady drum rolls. But the best trick played on the whole thing is the deceitfully floaty and glittery \u201cWHYYOUFUGGMYOPPS,\u201d which teeters between heartbroken disbelief (Damn, bitch, you fucked the opps\u201d) and pleas for forgiveness (\u201cIt was a play on the flo\u2019\u201d). All that will fly over your head on the dancefloor, but that\u2019s more or less the point. Headphone catharsis isn\u2019t enough \u2014 HiTech want to make sure you sweat it all away. <\/p>\n<p>            Two weeks ago, I hopped into a Zoom call with HiTech with the intention of asking them about the music, people, weed strains, and parties that inspired <i>D\u00c9TWAT<\/i>. And, of course, that didn\u2019t exactly go as planned. Even though his music was cold to the touch, the warm, blissed-out beats he rapped on, and his often laid-back flow, still offered some comfort. But ever since 2021, the Chelsea rapper\u2019s music has sounded restless, spurned by a new rapid-fire flow that makes him sound like he inhaled a bunch of nitrous. On his new single \u201cBack On The Wall,\u201d YL picks up right where his sample drill experiment Soda Club left off. JonBoyIce\u2019s drums are frenzied, but the sample\u2019s relaxed, providing YL with space to swerve between lanes with his self-motivating flexes. It makes his music feel agitated and bugged out like he\u2019s liable to pop off at any given moment. On \u201cCB4 Rappers,\u201d all that works in his favor \u201cAll these rap niggas acting like my son, but I don\u2019t know they mama so they can\u2019t be my mother fucking baby,\u201d he growls at the start of the song. On paper, it\u2019s not an especially crazy line, but he raps it in a tunnel vision, anger-fueled run-on sentence that individually sears each word into your memory.
