He also called the mercenaries\u2019 rebellion a <em>\u201ccolossal threat\u201d<\/em> and said it <em>\u201cis precisely what the neo-Nazis in Kyiv and the West wanted.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Russian authorities closed the investigation into Prigozhin early today, Russian state <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> reported. While Prigozhin\u2019s exact whereabouts are unknown, he has been exiled to Belarus amid a deal struck with Belarusian President <strong>Alexander Lukashenko<\/strong> (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-06-27\/russia-latest-putin-blames-mutiny-leaders-for-stoking-division?srnd=premium#xj4y7vzkg\">Bloomberg News<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite Putin\u2019s assertions about quashing the rebellion, he emerged from the aftermath of the insurrection with a shakier control over his country, fueling questions about how long he can maintain his power, writes The Hill\u2019s Brad Dress. Prigozhin\u2019s march toward Moscow with thousands of troops behind his back was the strongest challenge to Putin\u2019s leadership yet.<\/p>\n<p>Prigozhin, meanwhile, said in an 11-minute video statement Monday that <em>\u201cWe started our march because of an injustice,\u201d<\/em> and claimed that the Russian military had planned to absorb the Wagner Group fighters into their ranks. He said his troops were met with cheering crowds waving the flag of his Wagner Group fighters, adding that he halted his weekend campaign because he didn\u2019t want to spill Russian blood and because the goal was protest, not regime change.<\/p>\n<p>If Russian troops had marched on the first day of the invasion as far as his Wagner troops marched in 24 hours, Prigozhin said the war that has stretched to more than 16 months would have ended in one day. Ukraine in the past three weeks has recaptured <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately 115 square miles of land Russia had occupied, which is more territory than Russia seized in its entire winter offensive, British Defense Secretary <strong>Ben Wallace<\/strong> said Monday (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/world\/2023\/06\/26\/ukraine-russia-coup-war-live-updates\/70355733007\/\">USA Today<\/a> and<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-ukraine-war-shoigu-video-wagner-rebellion-0e79a2383f586c82e44861917927d920\"> The Associated Press<\/a>).<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p><strong>President Biden<\/strong> said Monday that the U.S. and its allies made clear to Moscow that they were not involved in the uprising over the weekend (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/biden-wagner-group-russia-mutiny\/\">CBS News<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThey agreed with me that we had to make sure we gave Putin no excuse \u2014 let me emphasize, we gave Putin no excuse \u2014 to blame this on the West, to blame this on NATO,\u201d<\/em> Biden said. <em>\u201cWe made clear that we were not involved. We had nothing to do with it. This was part of a struggle within the Russian system.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the rebellion, U.S. intelligence officials were able to gather an extremely detailed and accurate picture of Prigozhin\u2019s plans, including where and how Wagner was planning to advance, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/06\/26\/politics\/us-intelligence-wagner-chief\/index.html\">CNN reports<\/a>. But the intelligence was so closely held that it was shared only with select allies and not at the broader NATO level. Within the U.S., only the most senior administration officials as well as the Gang of Eight members of Congress, who have access to the most sensitive intelligence matters, were briefed on the matter.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>\u201cPutin of 10 years ago would have never allowed this to play out the way it did,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman and Gang of Eight member <strong>Mark Warner<\/strong> (D-Va.) said Monday on CNN\u2019s \u201cInside Politics.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/27\/world\/europe\/prigozhin-wagner-russia-putin.html\">The New York Times<\/a>: His glory fading, a Russian warlord took one last stab at power.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/06\/26\/politics\/wagner-putin-us-ukraine-analysis\/index.html\">CNN analysis<\/a>: The West must now consider the possibility of a Russian political collapse.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u25aa <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/25\/us\/politics\/wagner-future-ukraine-war.html\">The New York Times<\/a>: With Wagner\u2019s future in doubt, Ukraine could capitalize on the chaos.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian forces can look to take advantage of the Wagner Group\u2019s short-lived armed rebellion, analysts said, with confusion among Russia\u2019s military leadership expected to considerably weaken their war effort. <strong>Tony Brenton<\/strong>, former British ambassador to Russia, said the Wagner mercenary group had been the most effective component of Russia\u2019s military in Ukraine to date (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/06\/26\/russia-ukraine-war-what-next-after-the-wagner-rebellion-against-putin.html\">CNBC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe fact that, apparently, Prigozhin is now out of [the war] and maybe Wagner is also out of it will weaken Russia\u2019s performance on the battlefield<\/em>,\u201d Brenton told CNBC\u2019s \u201cStreet Signs Europe\u201d on Monday.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The Wagner mutiny has also bolstered the cause of defense hawks in Congress who are pressing for more money for Ukraine despite a strict cap on defense spending set by the debt-limit deal, the Hill\u2019s Alexander Bolton reports. He shared a political cartoon he liked because it favored patience for his policies. It lampooned <em>\u201cthose people that want instant results for changes in something that have taken several decades to be installed here in government,\u201d<\/em> he told journalists.<\/p>\n<p>Reagan\u2019s overall budget approach proved popular with most Americans, cleared Congress by August of 1981 and shaped his presidency on the way to a booming economy three years later (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/vault\/211076\/spending-cuts-popular-reagan-1981-budget.aspx\">Gallup<\/a>). Although critics questioned how much Reaganomics contributed to economic growth \u2014 and still bash the long-term economic consequences \u2014 the budget was considered a legislative triumph for Reagan, according to Gallup.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, racing this week through reelection fundraisers in a suburb of Washington, Chicago and New York City, plans to pitch his economic agenda as \u201cBidenomics\u201d during a<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/president-joe-biden-news-chicago\/13428859\/\"> Wednesday speech<\/a>. Analysts at the left-leaning Brookings Institution in Washington posit that Bidenomics can<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/teresaghilarducci\/2022\/11\/09\/bidenomics-won-the-midterm-elections\/?sh=5e10f2fb160c\"> help unite America<\/a>. In November, Forbes wrote that Bidenomics<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/teresaghilarducci\/2022\/11\/09\/bidenomics-won-the-midterm-elections\/?sh=32cec5ca160c\"> won the midterm elections<\/a>.
