\n Frederick \u201cToots\u201d Hibbert of iconic reggae group Toots and the Maytals has been hospitalized in Jamaica and is currently awaiting the results of a coronavirus test.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile reports of Mr. Hibbert being in an intensive care unit at a private facility in the Corporate Area are true, the family would like to assure those concerned that he is making positive progress and is receiving the best possible treatment, while he awaits the results on his COVID-19 test,\u201d reads a statement posted to the Maytals\u2019 official Facebook<\/a> page, hopefully adding, \u201cHe is resting and in good spirits, and is showing signs of improvement by the hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cPressure Drop\u201d singer, 77, sought medical help after complaining of trouble breathing, his agent Cabel Stephenson, told Jamaican news<\/a> outlet the Gleaner.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took him to a private facility where they administered some tests but said based on what is happ<\/a>ening, they have to do the COVID-19 test for everything to be complete and to rule it out,\u201d said Stephenson. \u201cIt was our wish that he stayed at the hospital where he can be under full observation because of his age and who he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

While his family and management team are reportedly concerned, Stephenson told the outlet that the singer himself likely won\u2019t begin to fret unless his symptoms escalate.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll be worried only if he\u2019s feeling pain and is uncomfortable in his structure like any human being would,\u201d Stephenson said.<\/p>\n

The former boxer, who has redefined reggae in his six-decade career, had just released his first album in a decade, \u201cGot To Be Tough,\u201d on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my last chance, man,\u201d he told Rolling Stone shortly before the album was released. \u201cI work hard. I am not afraid to work. But time is running out, and I feel that. I don\u2019t want to work so hard now. But it\u2019s coming up fast, fast. Good times gone, good times still coming, by and by.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
