{"id":580670,"date":"2023-06-29T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-29T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/biden-digging-for-dollars-in-wealthy-democratic-enclaves\/"},"modified":"2023-06-29T13:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T10:00:00","slug":"biden-digging-for-dollars-in-wealthy-democratic-enclaves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/biden-digging-for-dollars-in-wealthy-democratic-enclaves\/","title":{"rendered":"#Biden digging for dollars in wealthy Democratic enclaves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/bidenjoe_062023_ap_money.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Biden has targeted\u00a0blue strongholds ahead of his first fundraising deadline, raking in cash from reliable Democratic donors to give his reelection bid an early boost.<\/p>\n<p>The president has fundraised in high-income ZIP\u00a0codes in Chicago, Maryland, San Francisco, Connecticut and New York City just in the last month\u00a0\u2014 all friendly places for Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The sprint to connect with donors and bring in cash comes as the Biden campaign hopes for a strong showing in its first fundraising report,\u00a0for the quarter that ends\u00a0Friday.\u00a0He announced his reelection bid in April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst things first, he needs to secure his base and get the funding he needs. It makes sense to go do this in friendly territory,\u201d said Ivan Zapien, a former Democratic National Committee (DNC) official.<\/p>\n<p>The results of Biden\u2019s fundraising swing will be released in his first 2024 campaign finance report in July.<\/p>\n<p>A Biden campaign spokesperson would not disclose any specific fundraising tallies\u00a0but said they have been encouraged by the initial response from donors, adding that there have been \u201ca significant number of new donors since 2020.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The official added that the unified effort from the Biden campaign and the DNC comes as Republican presidential candidates are dividing resources.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s fundraising blitz is part of a broader\u00a0campaign\u00a0strategy\u00a0to connect with donors and build momentum that can be sustained over the next 16 months.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        The Hill\u2019s 2024 campaign coverage<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden\u2019s campaign manager, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ing in recent weeks with officials from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to Minneapolis, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and St. Louis to speak with supporters, local officials and donors.<\/p>\n<p>The meetings are meant as a way for donors to meet directly with campaign and DNC leaders to discuss the campaign\u2019s path to victory in 2024 and how early support from bundlers and local officials can help build early momentum.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the end of the fundraising quarter, Biden, Vice President Harris, first lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff have fanned across the country to attend campaign receptions in the hopes of supercharging the first public finance report.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Biden,\u00a0in particular,\u00a0has been meeting with groups of big money donors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The minimum donation for a campaign\u00a0reception\u00a0Wednesday\u00a0in Chicago\u00a0was $3,300,and donors could pay $25,000 to get a picture with the president.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Republicans bashed Biden for visiting these areas, many of which are some of the wealthiest towns in the United States.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cInstead of fixing the multiple crises he created or visiting East Palestine, Ohio like he promised, Biden chooses to mingle with liberal elites inside the beltway. Biden has had time for political fundraisers, celebrities, and vacations, but not serving hard-working Americans and families who are suffering because of his failed agenda,\u201d Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>During the closed-door fundraisers, which are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly\u00a0groups of about 120 people or less, Biden gives remarks and focuses on issues from foreign policy to reproductive rights. He also tends to talk about LGBTQ rights, gun violence, the infrastructure law and the economy\u00a0\u2014\u00a0a window into issues he will\u00a0highlight\u00a0on the trail.<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s visits to fundraisers have typically been paired with official events. In Connecticut, he spoke about gun violence in Hartford before heading to Greenwich to fundraise. In the San Francisco area, he spoke about climate and had a meeting on artificial intelligence, and then headed to Silicon Valley and other towns in the Bay\u00a0Area to meet with donors.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In Chicago, he spoke about his economic agenda\u00a0\u2014 what the White House has deemed \u201cBidenomics\u201d\u00a0\u2014 and then headed to the campaign reception in the city hosted by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D).<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s focus\u00a0on certain issues during campaign receptions\u00a0reminds\u00a0donors about\u00a0his priorities for the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also serves the dual goal of giving a refresher course of what is at stake and the fight ahead so that no one gets complacent. He is taking the urgency of now and this election to the base before turning to a different set of challenges. Shows he and the campaign are taking nothing for granted,\u201d Zapien said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Biden tends to talk more candidly when fundraising.\u00a0And that has recently led to attention-getting remarks.<\/p>\n<p>While in the Bay\u00a0Area, he called Chinese President Xi\u00a0Jinping\u00a0a dictator, leading to an angry response from Beijing. In Chevy Chase, Md., he mistakenly said Iraq while referring to Ukraine in remarks.<\/p>\n<p>One Democratic official noted Biden\u2019s reelection announcement in late April was likely timed to give the president enough runway to rack up a strong fundraising haul through the end of the second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The\u00a0official noted that the president is also likely to receive a boost once\u00a0his general election opponent becomes\u00a0clear, when grassroots donors are likely to feel a greater sense of urgency about defeating the Republican nominee.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts of the fundraisers reflect how deep-pocketed donors are opening up their homes and their wallets early in the campaign cycle to help boost the president.<\/p>\n<p>Biden last week was hosted in Los Gatos, Calif., by LinkedIn\u2019s Reid Hoffman and Microsoft\u2019s Kevin Scott,\u00a0and in Atherton, Calif.,\u00a0by venture capitalist Steve Westly. In Chevy Chase, Md.,\u00a0on Tuesday, the fundraiser was at the home of\u00a0Susie Gelman, whose grandfather owned Levi Strauss.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Greenwich, Conn.,\u00a0earlier this month, he was hosted at the home of hedge fund manager Stephen Mandel. And, Biden is\u00a0reportedly\u00a0receiving counsel from Jeffrey Katzenberg, a co-founder of DreamWorks SKG and longtime Democratic donor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m here today to ask you to help me finish the job,\u201d he told donors in Chicago on Wednesday. \u201cWe need you.
