(AP Photo\/Evan Vucci)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s far from clear that most Republicans want to move forward with impeachment proceedings against Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) introduced a procedural measure to force a floor vote on her impeachment articles, which led to internal sparring and a days-long clash between GOP leaders and the congresswoman. The House voted to punt the resolution to committees and avoid making lawmakers vote on it on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution, which many Republicans deemed as premature, accused Biden of \u201ca complete and total invasion at the southern border.\u201d The resolution includes two articles related to Biden\u2019s handling of matters along the U.S.-Mexico border \u2014 one for dereliction of duty and one for abuse of power.<\/p>\n<p>During the last Congress, GOP lawmakers in the minority introduced several impeachment resolutions against Biden, targeting him on immigration, the COVID pandemic and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. Boebert\u2019s move was an escalation that threatened to put vulnerable moderates in the caucus in a tough spot if they had to vote on it.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        The Hill Elections 2024 coverage<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There are other voices in the GOP calling for Biden\u2019s impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley told Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> this week that congressional Republicans \u201cabsolutely should\u201d look into impeachment. Her comments followed an IRS whistleblower\u2019s claims about tax crime investigations into the president\u2019s son Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>But Boebert\u2019s push has been dismissed by some in her party as frivolous.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got a pretty high bar for impeachment,\u201d Sen. (Greg Nash)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) brought up impeaching Garland this week, tying it to the Department of Justice\u2019s handling of the investigations into Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>McCarthy said an impeachment inquiry could be warranted over alleged political bias and DOJ \u201cweaponization.\u201d The push has been fueled by an IRS whistleblower\u2019s claims, denied by Garland, that there was political interference in tax crime investigations into Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone has lied here,\u201d McCarthy said Wednesday on Fox News. \u201cIf we find that Garland has lied to Congress, we will start an impeachment inquiry.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        McCarthy floats impeachment inquiry into Garland over DOJ \u2018weaponization\u2019<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)\u00a0filed articles of impeachment\u00a0against Garland last summer over the FBI\u2019s search of Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago property for classified and sensitive documents.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIf the whistleblowers\u2019 allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland\u2019s weaponization of DOJ,\u201d McCarthy said in a tweet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy\u2019s focus on Garland is a change in how he has handled calls from Republicans to impeach other members of the Biden administration. Andy Biggs (Ariz.) and Pat Fallon (Texas), have targeted Mayorkas with articles of impeachment over the flow of migrants at the southern border.<\/p>\n<p>House Republicans have held multiple hearings focused on what they describe as Mayorkas\u2019s \u201cdereliction of duty,\u201d and mishandling of border policy, pointing to surges of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border that set records in 2022.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI just think that more and more people are starting to come around to the necessity to impeach the guy,\u201d Biggs said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        House GOP inches closer to Mayorkas impeachment amid discord in conference<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. (Greg Nash)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Greene in May said she would target Wray and introduce articles of impeachment against him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The congresswoman argued that Way turned the FBI into Biden and Garland\u2019s \u201cpersonal police force\u201d and that the FBI has \u201cintimidated, harassed, and entrapped\u201d U.S. citizens who have been \u201cdeemed enemies of the Biden regime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While citing some FBI actions that she argued show the agency overreached, Greene referred to the plot that multiple men had in 2020 plotted to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D). She noted that two of the men were acquitted after defense attorneys argued that the FBI entrapped them and convinced them to engage in the conspiracy.<\/p>\n<p>She also mentioned that the FBI searched Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago property for classified and sensitive documents, arguing that the former president didn\u2019t break any laws. Trump has been indicted by a Miami jury over his handling of the records.<\/p>\n<p>Wray is scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on July 12.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing comes after the Republican-led House Oversight Committee threatened to hold Wray in contempt over his initial refusal to turn over a document detailing an unverified tip that GOP lawmakers claim shows then-Vice President Biden\u2019s involvement in a bribery scheme. The panel later backed off its contempt threat.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI and Justice Department as a whole have become common targets for conservatives, who have repeatedly claimed federal law enforcement is biased against Republicans and has been weaponized.
