After 50 years on the road, Elton John has officially bid farewell to his touring career.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On July 8, the 76-year-old music icon completed his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour after performing hits like \u201cBennie and the Jets,\u201d \u201cTiny Dancer,\u201d and \u201cYour Song\u201d throughout his 23-song set.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tour, which began on September 10, 2018 \u2014 but was halted in 2020 for nearly two-years due to the pandemic \u2014 has travel<\/a>ed across North America, Europe and Australia, concluding in Stockholm, Sweden at the Tele2 Arena in front of thousands of fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

John\u2019s goodbye, a moment fans have been anticipating for almost five years, finally arrived when he closed the show with \u201cGoodbye Yellow Brick Road\u201d during his encore.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The legendary musician shared some of his tour’s special moments on social media<\/a>, including a photo him and his band taking their bows for the last time as the confetti trickled down and covered the audience and the stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Final Farewell, 8 July 2023,\u201d he simply captioned the emotional moment in an Instagram<\/a> post on July 9.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Famous friends and fans celebrated the Grammy-winning artist and his impressive, decades-long career.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Donatella Versace wrote, \u201cI love you so much @eltonjohn. I will forever be proud of your exceptional achievements- you are a true genius.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Singer Brandi Carlile said, \u201cYou did it Captain! incredible work ethic and stamina.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cProud to know you everyday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coldplay, who was playing a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden on July 8, sent a live video message that was displayed on stage for John to see.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the sweet clip, frontman Chris Martin told John and the crowd, \u201cElton, from all of us here (in Gothenburg), from all the bands and artists you\u2019ve helped and inspired, we love you so much. We are so grateful for everything you\u2019ve done for the AIDS Foundation, anytime you\u2019ve been kind to anybody.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Martin also mentioned John\u2019s work with the LGBTQ+ community and his influence on fashion, eyewear and the music industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Numerous fans shared how John\u2019s music has personally impacted them on his Instagram<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSaying thank you seems completely inadequate!\u201d one person commented. \u201cBut thank you, your music has kept me going on some of my darkest days. The world is a better place with you in it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Another wrote, \u201cThank you so much for everything, Elton. I love you! I crossed the world to fulfill this great dream, I came directly from Bel\u00e9m do Par\u00e1, northern Brazil, to see my great idol!\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, some longtime fans hoped that singer wasn\u2019t bidding farewell to performing in general<\/a>, just the life of being on tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope it\u2019s not the final curtain but if it is, happ<\/a>y retirement, Elton! #legend,\u201d one Instagram user wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another joked, \u201cWish you a happy retirement. Don\u2019t forget to record new albums though.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

John also had a message for his fans. He reflected on his lasting bond with them in a statement shared in a press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He described his farewell show in Sweden as \u201cmagical.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to process it, and I don\u2019t think it will sink in for a while yet that I\u2019m finally finished touring,\u201d he said. \u201cI can\u2019t tell you how much I\u2019m going to miss the fans and how much their support has humbled me \u2014 it will stay with me forever.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
