\n BBC Studios\u00a0on Tuesday morning\u00a0London time unveiled an investment in Mettlemouse Entertainment, a new independent unscript<\/a>ed formats company set up by Sarah Tyekiff. The commercial arm of U.K. public broadcaster BBC, which has been on a buying spree \u2014 including a June deal for Scandinavian producer STV<\/a> \u2014 said it was taking a minority stake of 25 percent in Mettlemouse, without disclosing financial details.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe investment continues BBC Studios\u2019 strategy of backing the best creative talent and investing in new formats for its global production network,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n

\n Under the terms of the agreement, BBC Studios will get a first look at global distribution and format rights.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n Most recently head of unscripted at All3Media<\/a>-owned Lime Pictures, Tyekiff oversaw the firm\u2019s U.K. and U.S. slate, pitching to buyers globally. \u201cAs well as maintaining and refreshing long-running brands, including\u00a0The Only Way Is Essex, Geordie Shore\u00a0<\/em>and Celebs Go Dating,\u00a0<\/em>she developed and produced a number of new formats, including\u00a0Dance Monsters<\/em>\u00a0(Netflix),\u00a0Stand Up\u00a0and\u00a0Deliver<\/em> (Channel 4) and Who Do You Believe<\/em>\u00a0(ABC),\u201d BBC Studios highlighted.<\/p>\n

\n Prior to Lime Pictures, Tyekiff served as an executive producer at ITV, \u201cworking across big brands, including\u00a0Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/em> and the re-launch of\u00a0Saturday Night\u00a0Take Away<\/em>,\u201d the company said. \u201cShe grew the\u00a0I\u2019m A Celebrity\u2026Get Me Out of Here!\u00a0<\/em>brand, with her last season hitting 13 million viewers. Notably, she was the driver behind\u00a0Love Island<\/em>, developing, casting and producing (seasons) 1, 2 and 3, winning a BAFTA and bringing the show into the mainstream.\u201d She also developed\u00a0Red or Black<\/em>, Simon Cowell\u2019s \u00a31 million ($1.28 million) game<\/a>show, co-producing it with Ant and Dec.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n Meanwhile, the firm said that Shaun Parry, who previously had stints at Electric Ray and Endemol Shine, has joined Mettlemouse as creative director. His credits include\u00a0Moneybags<\/em> (Channel 4), Million Pound Menu<\/em>\u00a0(BBC Two) and reality show\u00a0Bromans<\/em>\u00a0(ITV2). \u201cAt Endemol Shine, he co-created BBC One\u2019s award-winning hit quiz show\u00a0Pointless<\/em>\u00a0and ITV2\u2019s\u00a0Almost Impossible Gameshow<\/em>,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n
