\n Top Chef<\/em> has found its new host \u2014\u00a0and it didn\u2019t have to go far to do so.<\/p>\n

\n Kristen Kish, who won the 10th season of Bravo\u2019s culinary competition and has served as a guest judge several times since, will take over for Padma Lakshmi in season 21. Top Chef<\/em> will set up its kitchen in Wisconsin for the coming season, focusing on Milwaukee and Madison. Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons will once again sit at the judges\u2019 table.<\/p>\n

\n Lakshmi, who has hosted Top Chef<\/em> since its second season in 2006-07, announced on June 2 that she\u2019s leaving the show. \u201cHaving completed a glorious 20th season as host and exec producer, I am extremely proud to have been a part of building such a successful show and of the impact it has had in the worlds of television and food,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter 17 years, many of the cast and crew are like family to me and I will miss working alongside them dearly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Sources say the search for a new host focused on past Top Chef<\/em> competitors who also have other on-camera experience. Kish quickly became a frontrunner for the job.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cTop Chef<\/em> is where I started my journey \u2013 first as a competing chef, then a guest judge. Now as host, I have the honor of helping to continue to build this brand,\u201d Kish said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to sit alongside Gail and Tom as we get to know new incredible chefs and see what they cook up. It feels like coming home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n In addition to her time on Top Chef<\/em>, Kish \u2014\u00a0who owns Arlo Grey in Austin\u2019s Line hotel \u2014\u00a0has fronted several other food and travel<\/a> shows across several platforms. She\u2019s host and producer of Nat Geo\u2019s Restaurants at the End of the World<\/em> and co-hosts Netflix\u2019s Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend<\/em> and TruTV\u2019s Fast Foodies<\/em>. She also previously hosted Travel Channel\u2019s 36 Hours<\/em>, based on the New York Times<\/em> column of the same title.<\/p>\n
