(AP Photo\/Gregory Bull, File)<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The pool of gymnastics prospects for the 2024 Paris Olympics just got more exciting.<\/p>\n<p>Trailblazer and Olympic champion Gabby Douglas has returned to training and has her sights on the upcoming Games, the 27-year-old announced via Instagram on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>One of very few U.S. gymnasts to ever compete at back-to-back Olympic Games, Douglas has been inactive since the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where she received a team gold medal.<\/p>\n<p>In the announcement of her return, she detailed her mindset during the long period away from the sport, saying she&#8217;s &#8220;found [herself] back where it all began.&#8221; She paired the message with two black-and-white photos of herself <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earing to be in vintage form on the balance beam.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For many years, I\u2019ve had an ache in my heart. But I didn\u2019t want to keep carrying anger, pain, sadness, or regret and through my tears and hurt, I\u2019ve found peace,&#8221; Douglas wrote. &#8220;I wanted to find the joy again for the sport that I absolutely love doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Douglas acknowledged that the road toward securing her place on the U.S. Olympic team will be difficult.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know I have a huge task ahead of me and I am beyond grateful and excited to get back out on the floor,&#8221; she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>She also posted a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CupC5AsMbAV\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:video of herself practicing her signature uneven bars;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">video of herself practicing her signature uneven bars<\/a>, the event in which she won the 2012 U.S national championship. She went on to make history as the first Black woman to win the all-around Olympic title in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>A sign in the background of her initial photos shows that she is training at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy, the Texas gym owned by 2008 Olympic champion Nastia Liukin&#8217;s parents.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Valeri Liukin, Nastia&#8217;s father, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/olympics\/news\/gabby-douglas-gymnastics-comeback\" data-ylk=\"slk:confirmed in February;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">confirmed in February<\/a> that Douglas was back in action and training in Frisco, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Now that she has announced it herself, three past Olympic champions are back in training with hopes to return to the Games.<\/p>\n<p>Simone Biles, the 2016 Olympic champion, is set to compete for the first time since 2021 at next month&#8217;s U.S. Classic. The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> was broken by the entry list for the event, which also featured Sunisa Lee. The Auburn star won gold in Tokyo in 2021 but was forced to abbreviate her last collegiate season due to a kidney issue. Training around the condition, she told her Instagram followers Wednesday that she&#8217;s &#8220;still in &amp; out of gym.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lee and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/sports\/biles-back-us-camp-after-long-hiatus-2023-07-09\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Biles;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Biles<\/a> also participated in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/en\/news\/sunisa-lee-returns-to-first-u-s-team-camp-since-tokyo-gold\" data-ylk=\"slk:U.S. team training camp;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">U.S. team training camp<\/a> that concluded Wednesday. Douglas didn&#8217;t appear at the camp.
