\n Geraldo Rivera is opening up about his recent departure from Fox News<\/a> and how a \u201ctoxic relationship\u201d with another castmember on The Five<\/em> played a role in his firing.<\/p>\n

\n Last month, it was announced that Rivera would be leaving the afternoon panel show. But the following week, he took to Twitter<\/a> to reveal that he actually quit his job at Fox News after being \u201cfired\u201d from The Five<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n During Thursday\u2019s app<\/a>earance on The View<\/em>, Rivera didn\u2019t identify who he \u201chad a toxic relationship\u201d with, but when asked if he felt that it was unfair that personal issues with a colleague on the show led to his exit, he responded, \u201cSure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI also thought it was very unfair that I was not judged objectively in our disputes, but rather that he was always favored,\u201d he explained. \u201cI was the one \u2026 suspended three times. My appearances, I had two, three appearances scheduled weekly, then bi-weekly, then monthly, then they kind of disappeared, they were canceled in the last day right before I was supposed to go on. So, I was really ticked off.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n When prompted by The View<\/em> co-host Joy Behar, Rivera did proceed to confirm that he was referring to a male castmember on The Five<\/em> and not Jeanine Pirro, adding, \u201cI love Jeanine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The Fox News afternoon panel show featured a rotating cast of co-hosts from across Fox\u2019s lineup, including Pirro, Jesse Watters, Dana Perino and Greg Gutfeld. Rivera would make appearances in the rotation as a liberal co-host.<\/p>\n

\n But in the end, he said, \u201cEverything came to everything. Now I\u2019m not mad at anybody. Now I\u2019m a free person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Earlier during his conversation on The View<\/em>, Rivera also detailed how he ultimately ended up at his decision to leave the network as a whole.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI got a call from two of the female executives and they said, \u2018You\u2019re off The Five<\/em>, but there are plenty of other things you can do.’\u201d he recalled. \u201cI had a year-and-a-half left on my contract. And I said, \u2018Well, stuff it, if you fired me from the No. 1 show, then I\u2019m going to quit.\u2019 And that\u2019s basically what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n He continued, \u201cIn the interim, in the days that led up to my last day of work, they were so kind to me. \u2026 They were so nice, remembering all the things we did together over the 20-odd years.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n When asked why they didn\u2019t just build him another show, Rivera added, \u201cThey could have, I guess,\u201d but that he feels like his \u201cideology does not fit Fox\u201d anymore.<\/p>\n

\n Rivera previously told The Associated Press<\/a><\/em> that there was friction in front and behind the cameras on the Fox News panel show.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThere has been a growing tension that goes beyond editorial differences and personal annoyances and gripes,\u201d he told the outlet in June. \u201cIt\u2019s not worth it to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> has reached out to Fox News for comment.<\/p>\n
