{"id":582817,"date":"2023-07-14T22:47:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T19:47:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/judicial-panel-issues-pause-on-ruling-limiting-biden-communications-with-social-media-firms\/"},"modified":"2023-07-14T22:47:12","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T19:47:12","slug":"judicial-panel-issues-pause-on-ruling-limiting-biden-communications-with-social-media-firms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/judicial-panel-issues-pause-on-ruling-limiting-biden-communications-with-social-media-firms\/","title":{"rendered":"#Judicial panel issues pause on ruling limiting Biden communications with social media firms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/bidenjoe_070723gn06_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A three-judge <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eals court panel on Friday issued a brief pause of a lower court ruling that limited the Biden administration\u2019s communication with <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> companies over free speech concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel issued an administrative stay that takes effect until further notice.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>A separate panel will later consider the Justice Department\u2019s motion to issue a longer pause that would run through the administration\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge\u00a0Terry Doughty,\u00a0a Trump appointee in Louisiana, had\u00a0blocked certain Biden administration agencies\u2019 communications\u00a0with social media companies, ruling in favor of two Republican states attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> who argued the officials\u2019 communications violated protected speech.<\/p>\n<p>Biden administration officials were ordered not to contact social media companies regarding \u201cthe removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech posted on social media platforms.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The decision was a blow to the administration\u2019s efforts to combat disinformation, which the attorneys general claimed constituted a \u201ccampaign of censorship\u201d against protected right-leaning speech.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Officials from the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Justice, the State Department and the FBI were affected by the ruling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>White House press secretary\u00a0Karine Jean-Pierre\u00a0said last week that the administration disagreed with the court\u2019s decision.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Lawyers led by Brian Boynton, principal deputy assistant attorney general, argued in the DOJ\u2019s request to stay the order that the decision\u2019s \u201cbroad scope and ambiguous terms\u201d were stopping the government from engaging in a \u201cvast range\u201d of lawful conduct.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Doughty denied the administration\u2019s request for a pause, so it then brought its request to the 5th Circuit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The three-judge panel, two Democratic appointees and one Republican appointee, on Friday also expedited the Biden administration\u2019s full appeal.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p><em>This story was updated at 4:04 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
