\n William C. Rhoden said Chris Russo was \u201cfeeding into a white supremacist ideology\u201d when the radio host claimed \u201cthere\u2019s bad on all sides of the coin,\u201d regarding the recent protests in Portland.<\/p>\n

Russo had Rhoden, the longtime New York Times sports columnist who now writes for The Undefeated, on his SiriusXM show last Friday when their conversation about NBA players striking game<\/a>s in support of racial equality and social<\/a> justice grew contested.<\/p>\n

Russo cited \u201c60 days of riots in Portland\u201d and asked Rhoden if it was \u201call because of white supremacists?\u201d Rhoden threw the question back at Russo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a combination of a lot of factors,\u201d Russo said. \u201cI think there\u2019s bad on all sides of the coin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s just what your president said when a neo-nazi and a confederate ran down people. He said just what you said \u2014 there are good people on both sides,\u201d Rhoden said. \u201cDo you believe that Chris? Do you hear what you\u2019re saying? You can\u2019t be on the air, spouting the kind of stuff you\u2019re spouting, feeding into a white supremacist ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBill, how dare you,\u201d Russo said, cutting Rhoden off. \u201cYou\u2019re calling me a white supremacist now? Is that what you\u2019re calling me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying you\u2019re feeding into a white supremacist ideology,\u201d Rhoden said.<\/p>\n

Russo defended himself by pointing to his 40 years on the air, much of which came on WFAN.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m doing is I\u2019m doing a talk show and trying to play it right down the middle,\u201d Russo said. \u201cThat\u2019s what a good talk show host does, he plays it down the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russo then asked Rhoden if he thought he was a racist.<\/p>\n

\u201cUh, yeah, I think that you \u2026\u201d Rhoden said with a chuckle before trailing off. \u201cWhat do you think, do you think you\u2019re racist?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo I don\u2019t,\u201d Russo said. \u201cNo I don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

They later found common ground and ended the interview amicably, according to @BackAftaThis.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
