Christian Bale<\/a> is inargualby one of the best actors in the business. The 49-year-old Oscar winner has been consistently delivering eclectic, fully committed, knockout performances for decades, dating back to his 1987 teenage breakout in Empire of the Sun<\/em> and including American Psycho<\/em> (2000), The Machinist<\/em> (2004), The Fighter<\/em> (2010), American Hustle<\/em> (2013), Vice<\/em> (2018) and Ford v. Ferrari<\/em> (2018), among many others.<\/p>\n

Reviewers love him, audiences love him, awards voters love him.<\/p>\n

The Welsh actor might, however, be his harshest critic \u2014 and Bale will even tell you he wasn\u2019t particularly pleased with one of his most famous (and profitable) characters: Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in Christopher Nolan\u2019s Dark Knight<\/em> trilogy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t quite manage what I hoped I would throughout the trilogy,\u201d Bale told us during a 2016 interview of his work beginning in 2005\u2019s Batman Begins<\/em> and ending in 2012\u2019s The Dark Knight Rises<\/em>. \u201cChris did, but my own sense of self is like, \u2018I didn\u2019t quite nail it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
