\n John Boyega is opening up about the Stars Wars<\/em> universe and if he would be interested in returning for another movie.<\/p>\n

\n His comments come years after he previously spoke out about the treatment of Black characters in Star Wars: Episode IX \u2013 The Rise of Skywalker<\/em> and accused Disney of capitalizing on their casting before pushing their characters to the side in the story.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThat was a few years ago, so they were the subject of that particular project,\u201d Boyega recently told TechRadar<\/a><\/em>, in an interview that was conducted before the actors strike. \u201cBut I\u2019m open to all characters and script<\/a>s that are enjoyable, have a great cast attached and a terrific director. So yeah, I\u2019m open to all opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n During a September 2020 interview with British GQ<\/em>\u00a0magazine<\/a>, the actor, who played Stormtrooper-turned-Resistance fighter Finn, shared his thoughts on his once prominent character in\u00a0The Force Awakens<\/em> being \u201cpushed to the side\u201d in The Rise of Skywalker<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cYou get yourself involved in projects and you\u2019re not necessarily going to like everything,\u201d\u00a0he said at the time.\u00a0\u201c[But] what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It\u2019s not good. I\u2019ll say it straight up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Boyega also claimed that his fellow white lead actors\u2019 characters weren\u2019t impacted in the film\u2019s storyline like his was.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cYou knew what to do with these other people, but when it came to\u00a0Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know fuck all,\u201d\u00a0he said.\u00a0\u201cThey gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let\u2019s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I\u2019m not exposing anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Earlier this year, during an interview with The Times of London<\/a><\/em>, Boyega reflected on his Stars Wars<\/em> experience as a whole and noted that he now feels \u201ccomfortable\u201d with his character Finn.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cFor me\u00a0Star Wars<\/em>\u00a0has made the man, in a sense,\u201d he said. \u201cThe experiences, the fun times, good times, ugly times, bad times, it makes you who you are as you navigate through the industry, and that has definitely been interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
