\n Paramount+ has acquired action-comedy series<\/a>\u00a0Twisted Metal<\/em>, starring Anthony Mackie,\u00a0for Canada in a deal with producer\u00a0Sony Pictures Television (SPT). <\/p>\n

\n All 10 episodes of the\u00a0live-action adaptation of the PlayStation classic game<\/a> series, which is set to debut in the U.S. on NBCUniversal streamer Peacock late this month, will premiere in Canada exclusively on Paramount Global\u2019s Paramount+ on\u00a0Aug. 10.\u00a0Paramount+ will also launch the series \u201cin other international territories to be announced at a later date,\u201d the partners said on Thursday without detailing any of those markets.<\/p>\n

\n The series from SPT is based on an original take by Rhett Reese\u00a0and Paul Wernick (Deadpool<\/em>, Zombieland<\/em>)\u00a0and written by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai<\/em>).\u00a0Mackie (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier<\/em>) stars as motor-mouthed outsider John Doe who is offered a chance at a better life if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. \u201cWith the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he\u2019ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown named Sweet Tooth who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck,\u201d according to the plot descript<\/a>ion. <\/p>\n

\n Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine Nine<\/em>, Encanto<\/em>) portrays Quiet, with Joe Seanoa, the AEW wrestler known as Samoa Joe, starring as Sweet Tooth, voiced by Will Arnett (Arrested Development<\/em>, The Lego Movie<\/em>). Thomas Haden Church (Sideways<\/em>, Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em>) is also part of the big-name cast. Series guest stars include Neve Campbell (Scream<\/em>), Richard Cabral (Mayans M.C.<\/em>), Mike Mitchell (Love<\/em>, The Tomorrow War<\/em>), Tahj Vaughans (The Purge<\/em>), and Lou Beatty Jr. (Finding Normal<\/em>).\u00a0Mackie also serves as an executive producer.<\/p>\n
