\n Christopher Nolan is sharing his admiration for the James Bond franchise and why it would be an \u201camazing privilege\u201d to direct a film of 007.<\/p>\n

\n While speaking with host Josh Horowitz on a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused<\/em>\u00a0podcast<\/a>, the Oppenheimer<\/em> director admitted that he would gladly accept the opportunity if presented at the \u201cright moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe influence of those movies<\/a> on my filmography is embarrassingly app<\/a>arent. And so there\u2019s no attempt to shy away from that. I love the films,\u201d Nolan said. \u201cYou know, it would be an amazing privilege to do one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n But the filmmaker noted that when you take on a character or project like the iconic British spy franchise, \u201cyou\u2019re working within a particular set of constraints\u201d and must approach it with the \u201cright attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt has to be the right moment in your creative life where you can express what you want to express and really burrow into something within the appropriate constraints because you would never want to take on something like that and do it wrong,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n Taking on a legendary character wouldn\u2019t be anything new for the Oscar-nominated director, as he brought Christian Bale\u2019s Batman to life in the Dark Knight<\/em> trilogy. But if he took on James Bond, Nolan explained that he would need to be allotted some creative freedom throughout the project.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cYou wouldn\u2019t want to take on a film not fully committed to what you bring to the table creatively. So as a writer, casting, everything, it\u2019s a full package,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019d have to be really needed, you\u2019d have to be really wanted in terms of bringing the totality of what you bring to a character. Otherwise, I\u2019m very happy to be first in line to see whatever they do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Nolan previously revealed in a 2017 interview with Playboy<\/em><\/a> that he has kept in contact with \u201cproducers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years\u201d and would \u201cdefinitely\u201d be down to take on a film in the hit franchise. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI deeply love the character, and I\u2019m always excited to see what they do with it,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cMaybe one day that would work out. You\u2019d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they\u2019re getting along very well.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
