\n Oscar-winner Julianne Moore is set to join the ensemble cast of Universal\u2019s movie adaptation of the Broadway hit \u201cDear Evan Hansen,\u201d joining Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, Amy Adams and Amandla Stenberg.<\/p>\n

The story follows Evan Hansen, a high schooler with social<\/a> anxiety. He unintentionally gets caught up in a lie after the family of a classmate who died by suicide mistakes one of Hansen\u2019s letters for their son\u2019s suicide note. Moore will play the protagonist\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n

Steven Levenson, who wrote the book for the stage musical, penned the script<\/a>, and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote the music and original lyrics for the musical and film. Stephen Chbosky will direct, and Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce for their Universal-based Marc Platt Productions.<\/p>\n

Universal\u2019s SVP Production Sara Scott and director of development Lexi Barta will oversee production on behalf of the studio.<\/p>\n

Moore most recently was seen in the Sony Pictures Classics dramedy \u201cAfter the Wedding\u201d and next can be seen as Gloria Steinem in Amazon\u2019s \u201cThe Glorias.\u201d She also appears opposite Amy Adams in the Netflix pic \u201cWoman in the Window\u201d\u00a0and has the Apple TV series<\/a> \u201cLisey\u2019s Story.\u201d<\/p>\n

She is repped by WME, Management 360 and Edelstein, Laird & Sobel.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
