House hearing seeks extraterrestrial explanations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/UAPs_congress_051722_AP_AlexBrandon.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>As the House prepares to hear from a UFO whistleblower who claims the U.S. is concealing evidence of nonhuman craft, the question looms over members of Congress: Are we alone?<\/p>\n<p>Many members insist they have not seriously considered the question or are keeping their concern focused on national security risks from not knowing the cause of UFO sightings.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>But some members say they have seen enough to think that the unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) \u2014 a more recent term for sightings of strange objects or effects in the sky \u2014 are of nonhuman extraterrestrial origin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s either something extraterrestrial, or something extraterrestrial that they reverse-engineered,\u201d Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), a leader of Wednesday\u2019s UAP hearing, said when asked about the possibility of the sightings being secret Chinese or Russian <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) also said he thinks the UAPs were of nonhuman extraterrestrial origin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen, God made a phenomenal planet with phenomenal people, even though we disagree, we have our own issues. I don\u2019t think we\u2019re the only ones in the universe,\u201d Donalds said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo I think that our federal government has hidden information from the American people? 100 percent. Not even close,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But while most of the focus around the UAPs is on whether their source is dangerous technology from adversaries such as China or Russia or extraterrestrial, some people have pointed to a third explanation behind the sightings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a Christian and I believe the Bible,\u201d said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). \u201cI think that to me, honestly \u2013 I\u2019ve looked into it. And I think we have to question if it\u2019s more of the spiritual realm. Angels, or fallen angels. And that\u2019s my honest opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s hearing will feature\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/space\/ufo\/we-are-not-alone-the-ufo-whistleblower-speaks\/\">David Grusch<\/a>, a former intelligence official who is now a whistleblower alleging that the government is concealing evidence of a crash retrieval program focused on wreckage of \u201cnonhuman origin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are retrieving nonhuman origin technical vehicles, call it spacecraft if you will. Nonhuman exotic origin vehicles that have either landed or crashed,\u201d Grusch told\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/space\/ufo\/we-are-not-alone-the-ufo-whistleblower-speaks\/\">NewsNation<\/a>\u00a0last month, going as far as to suggest that some crash retrievals have included recovery of \u201cdead pilots.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In the UFO enthusiast community, Grusch\u2019s claims were a bombshell. But they did not land that way with all members of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) brushed off a recent question about whether he believes in extraterrestrial life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will continue to see, but I think if we had found a UFO, I think the Department of Defense would tell us, because they probably want to request more money,\u201d McCarthy said. \u201cI\u2019m very supportive of letting the American public see whatever we have.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, also rebuffed concern about UAPs and their origins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many things that we get an opportunity to dig into and talk about here. It\u2019s really the reason why people run for Congress, is to help their constituents and to weigh in on serious things. And this is just not in my top 20 that constituents in my district are asking me about or talking about,\u201d Aguilar said.<\/p>\n<p>But there is some UFO and UAP alarm among leaders on the other side of the Capitol.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen.\u00a0Mike Rounds\u00a0(R-S.D.) spearheaded an amendment that was added to the chamber\u2019s annual defense bill that would require government records related to UAPs be declassified and disclosed unless a review board says they must be kept classified.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee,\u00a0recently told The Hill\u00a0that he is concerned about the national security implications of the UAPs and the whistleblower claims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEither A, they\u2019re telling the truth or some version of the truth, or B, we have a bunch of people with high clearances and really important jobs in our government [who] are nuts. Both are a problem,\u201d Rubio said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>But do not expect any hard answers in the meeting about whether Earth has been visited by aliens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re gonna get into little green men,\u201d said Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), who is helping lead Wednesday\u2019s UAP hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The focus, he said, is on government transparency about UAPs.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWhat does the government know? And why aren\u2019t they telling the American people?\u201d Moskowitz said. \u201cEven just trying to get this hearing done \u2014 there are different factions of the government that tried to stop the hearing from h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening. Why?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, a House Intelligence subcommittee held a\u00a0rare open hearing\u00a0on UAPs, with lawmakers seeking to destigmatize reporting of the sightings and stressing that they are a national security concern. But it did little to provide an explanation for the hundreds of recorded UAP encounters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m on the Intelligence Committee, and yes, we do have hearings on this stuff,\u201d said Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio). But while most of those are closed hearings, Wenstrup said they \u201cmight as well be open,\u201d alluding to a lack of explanation about the encounters.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the intense outside interest, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, is leaving exploration of the topic to Burchett and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just gonna sit there. I\u2019m gonna yield my time to Luna,\u201d Comer said. \u201cI\u2019m just there to listen and learn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
