The way she embraced a generative version of her voice without the guardrails or considerations of similar projects from years ago seemed to reinforce a defeatist attitude around the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> and, it could be argued, gave the companies that control music a template for making a reduced presence of human beings in songs an acceptable and even cool concept. She has also said some <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@uglybound\/video\/7243828770606484762\">really out-of-pocket shit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>            It\u2019s been a bumpy road, but Grimes\u2019s interest in releasing music with her own voice is still a thing (allegedly, anyway. These A.I. replicas are very convincing!). Her new song, \u201cI Wanna Be Software,\u201d a technicolor electro-clash track produced by Illangelo, couldn\u2019t have come at a better time. Right now, young content creators are embracing something called \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2023\/jul\/19\/tiktok-npc-streaming-live-stream-pinkydoll\">NPC streaming<\/a>.\u201d It&#8217;s a form of role-playing where the streamer acts like an NPC (Non-Playable Character) from RPGs in exchange for donations. Donate a certain level of money, and the streamer will perform a set action for you, like saying a phrase or performing a gesture. Certain streamers are making upwards of $7,000 a day, so the trend is not going away anytime soon. <\/p>\n<p>            Grimes knows of this phenomenon and has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Grimezsz\/status\/1681303530928476161\">conveyed her approval<\/a>, so it\u2019s fair to position \u201cI Wanna Be Software\u201d as an anthem for this new class of performer. Grimes\u2019s vocals on the verses adopt the dead-eyed quality of the NPC streamers with a good helping of glitchiness to emphasize and celebrate the inhumanity. It\u2019s on the hook when she starts singing that the irony breaks and a bit of catharsis breaks through \u2013 the melodies are, crucially, an ever-so-slight throwback to <i>Visions<\/i>, helping make \u201cSoftware\u201d one of the more engaging pieces of music she\u2019s has put out in a minute.
