The charges against Trump are the most serious to ever be brought against a former U.S. president.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>DeSantis slammed the outcome of the indictment <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonDeSantis\/status\/1686494955420692480?s=20\">in a post on X<\/a>, the platform formerly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, shortly after the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> broke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I\u2019ve seen reports, I have not read the indictment,\u201d DeSantis wrote. \u201cI do, though, believe we need to enact reforms so that Americans have the right to remove cases from Washington, DC to their home districts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cWashington, DC is a \u2018swamp\u2019 and it is unfair to have to stand trial before a jury that is reflective of the swamp mentality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The indictment proves the government has been weaponized, DeSantis claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the reasons our country is in decline is the politicization of the rule of law. No more excuses\u2014I will end the weaponization of the federal government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonDeSantis\/status\/1686494955420692480\"><\/a>The four charges laid out in the 45-page indictment from special counsel\u00a0Jack Smith are conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding and conspiracy against rights.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cDespite having lost, the Defendant was determined to remain in power. So for more than two months following election day on November 3, 2020, the Defendant spread lies that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won,\u201d the indictment states.<\/p>\n<p>Trump will make his first court <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance in the case Thursday in federal court in Washington, D.C., and U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan will oversee the case, according to the docket of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
