Tony Bennett\u2019s son Danny Bennett shared his father\u2019s final words to him in a moving interview on Thursday, nearly two weeks after the legendary singer\u2019s death at age 96.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cHis last words to me [were], \u2018Thank you,\u2019\u201d Danny Bennett said during a sit-down with Hoda Kotb on the \u201cToday\u201d show<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t say it better than that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The singer\u2019s wife, Susan Benedetto, told Kotb that Tony Bennett\u2019s last words to her were \u201cthat he loved me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cHe would wake up every day and still say that,\u201d she said. \u201cHe woke up happ<\/a>y every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added that the last song he sang before his death \u2015 \u201cBecause of You\u201d \u2015 was also his very first hit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And despite Bennett\u2019s Alzheimer\u2019s diagnosis in 2016, Benedetto told Kotb that \u201cthe music never left him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhen he did have more alert moments, first thing in the morning, he didn\u2019t ask really about anyone or anything except, \u2018Am I working tonight?\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd the other day he\u2019s like, \u2018Susan, am I in a good theater tonight?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier this week, Lady Gaga, who frequently collaborated with Bennett over the last decade, remembered the legendary singer in an emotional tribute.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gaga said that she\u2019d<\/a> \u201cbeen grieving the loss of Tony for a long time,\u201d given his Alzheimer\u2019s diagnosis, but that the two \u201chad a very long and powerful goodbye\u201d over the years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never forget this experience. I\u2019ll never forget Tony Bennett,\u201d she said in her post, signing off with, \u201cI love you Tony. Love, Lady.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
