{"id":585927,"date":"2023-08-06T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-06T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/pence-confirms-he-took-notes-on-trump-about-overturning-election\/"},"modified":"2023-08-06T13:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-08-06T10:00:00","slug":"pence-confirms-he-took-notes-on-trump-about-overturning-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/pence-confirms-he-took-notes-on-trump-about-overturning-election\/","title":{"rendered":"#Pence confirms he took notes on Trump about overturning election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/AP23214681537433-1-e1691251910670.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former Vice President Mike Pence has confirmed that he took notes on his conversations with former President Trump leading up to the Jan. 6 riot, as Trump repeatedly pressured him to reject the results of the 2020 election during the certification in Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom time to time, particularly at important moments, I had a practice of scribbling a note or two on my calendar, just to memorialize it and remember it,\u201d Pence said in an interview with CBS\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation\u201d that aired on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly didn\u2019t make a practice of taking notes in meetings over the four-year period of time, but given the momentous events that were unfolding, I did take a few notes to remind myself of what had been said,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The four-count indictment brought against Trump on Tuesday over his efforts to remain in power after the 2020 election referenced Pence\u2019s contemporaneous, and previously unreported, notes from the time.<\/p>\n<p>The former vice president\u2019s notes from a Jan. 4, 2021, meeting detailed various election fraud claims that Trump made, as he pushed Pence to send back or reject electoral votes during the Jan. 6 certification.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Pence noted at the meeting that \u201ceven your own counsel is not saying I have that authority\u201d to send the votes back to the states, Trump reportedly responded, \u201cThat\u2019s okay, I prefer the other suggestion,\u201d in which the former vice president would unilaterally reject the votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, I\u2019m a student of American history. I knew the founders of this country would never have given any one person the right to choose what Electoral College votes to accept and which ones to reject,\u201d Pence said in the interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was very consistent with the president about that, and my recollections all reflect that,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut you know, the end of the day, the president continued to hold to that view.
