\n Chris \u201cMad Dog\u201d Russo said NBA announcer Grant Napear \u2014 who was fired from one job and resigned from another after his \u201cAll Lives Matter\u201d tweet amid the George Floyd protests was met with backlash \u2014 is not a racist.<\/p>\n

Russo \u2014 who has known Napear since \u201c1965-66\u201d \u2014 said others who know Napear in different periods of his life may have a different view, but the man he knows is not a racist.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have known Grant personally for 54 years,\u201d Russo said on his \u201cMad Dog Sports Radio\u201d show in a clip provided by the Funhouse Twitter<\/a> account. \u201cTo say that Grant Napear is a racist is absurd. In my knowledge of him \u2026 Grant Napear, trust me when I say this, this is me, is anything but a racist.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Napear, a graduate of Syosset High School on Long Island, was fired by Sports 1140 KHTK in Sacramento and resigned as the Kings TV play-by-play announcer.<\/p>\n

Napear, a graduate of Syosset High School on Long Island, tweeted \u201cAll Lives Matter\u2026Every Single One!\u201d on Sunday after former Kings star DeMarcus Cousins asked the 60-year-old for his view on the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n

Napear on Monday issued an apology published by the Sacramento Bee.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I was] not as educated on BLM as I thought,\u201d he said. \u201cI had no idea that when I said \u2018All Lives Matter\u2019 that it was counter to what BLM is trying to get across.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many believe that people who use the phrase \u201cAll Lives Matter\u201d are mocking the group, which began in 2013 as a movement against systematic racism and police brutality.<\/p>\n

Floyd, 46, died on May 25 in Minneapolis after police officer Derek Chauvin, 44, pressed his knee into Floyd\u2019s neck for more than eight minutes after Floyd was suspected of spending a counterfeit $20 bill. Chauvin has been charged third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
