{"id":586070,"date":"2023-08-07T16:22:55","date_gmt":"2023-08-07T13:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/trump-jack-smith-going-before-judge-of-his-dreams\/"},"modified":"2023-08-07T16:22:55","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T13:22:55","slug":"trump-jack-smith-going-before-judge-of-his-dreams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/trump-jack-smith-going-before-judge-of-his-dreams\/","title":{"rendered":"#Trump: Jack Smith going before \u2018judge of his dreams\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/smithjack_ap_jacquelynmartin_080123.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President Trump claimed Monday that special counsel Jack Smith was going before the \u201cjudge of his dreams\u201d in U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia Tanya Chutkan, who is presiding over the case linked to Trump\u2019s efforts to hold power after the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has repeatedly attacked the venue of the case \u2014 Washington, D.C. \u2014 and Chutkan since his indictment, arguing that he cannot get a fair trial in such a setting. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cDeranged Jack Smith is going before his number one draft pick, the Judge of his \u201cdreams\u201d (WHO MUST BE RECUSED!), in an attempt to take away my FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS,\u201d Trump posted on Truth <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis, despite the fact that he, the DOJ, and his many Thug prosecutors, are illegally leaking, everything and anything, to the Fake <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> Media!!!\u201d Trump continued.<\/p>\n<p>The latest messages are part of a wave from Trump, the leading contender for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, that have gone after Chutkan. <\/p>\n<p>The judge, an <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointee of former President Obama, was randomly assigned the case in D.C. A Trump appointee is presiding over a separate case on Trump\u2019s handling of classified documents in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The case that Chutkan is presiding over in D.C. is also related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, which took place just blocks from the courthouse. <\/p>\n<p>Voters in D.C. overwhelmingly voted for President Biden in the 2020 election, another fact highlighted by Trump and his allies.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trump was charged with four criminal counts related to his attempts to cling to power after he lost the 2020 election. He pleaded guilty to all four charges at an arraignment last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chutkan, who was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate, has developed a reputation for handing out tough sentencings in cases related to Jan. 6.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She ruled in favor of the Jan. 6 select committee investigating the attack on the Capitol, allowing it access to key records that helped it make its case against Trump. Many credit the Jan. 6 committee\u2019s work with paving the way to the latest indictment against Trump.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In ruling against Trump, Chutkan wrote, \u201cPresidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, Trump\u2019s allies tried to make the case that Trump could not get a fair trial in D.C. <\/p>\n<p>Several Trump allies-turned-critics, including former Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Bill Barr and former New Jersey Governor and U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, rejected that argument, saying they are confident in the D.C. jurors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Christie is a rival of Trump\u2019s in the 2024 GOP primary.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
