{"id":586115,"date":"2023-08-07T21:40:33","date_gmt":"2023-08-07T18:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/trump-lawyer-says-jack-smith-showing-discomfort-with-protective-order-request\/"},"modified":"2023-08-07T21:40:33","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T18:40:33","slug":"trump-lawyer-says-jack-smith-showing-discomfort-with-protective-order-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/trump-lawyer-says-jack-smith-showing-discomfort-with-protective-order-request\/","title":{"rendered":"#Trump lawyer says Jack Smith showing \u2018discomfort\u2019 with protective order request\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/habbaalina_ap_alexbrandon.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Alina Habba, an attorney for former President Trump, said special counsel Jack Smith is demonstrating his personal \u201cdiscomfort\u201d with his request for a protective order in the case against Trump for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ealed to the federal judge overseeing Trump\u2019s\u00a0election fraud case last week to issue a protective order on evidence divulged during discovery, citing <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> threats from the former president. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIF YOU GO AFTER ME, I\u2019M COMING AFTER YOU!\u201d Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Friday. <\/p>\n<p>In an appearance on \u201cFox &amp; Friends,\u201d Habba said that while Trump has agreed to protective orders in the past and has not violated them, the government\u2019s most recent request was \u201cdifferent\u201d because it covers witness testimony and exhibits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t necessarily always object, but this one\u2019s different because this is Jack Smith trying to be a bit of a victim here,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I just want to be clear that that doesn\u2019t seem to be an issue for my client,\u201d Habba, who is not representing Trump in this case, said later. \u201cWhat seems to be an issue is that Jack Smith isn\u2019t liking the discomfort of the attention from what he brought.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Smith wrote in the filing requesting the protective order that Trump could undermine a fair trial by publicly sharing information obtained during the pretrial process. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the defendant were to begin issuing public posts using details \u2014 or, for example, grand jury transcripts \u2014 obtained in discovery here, it could have a harmful chilling effect on witnesses or adversely affect the fair administration of justice in this case,\u201d the filing said. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Trump claimed Monday that such an order\u00a0would infringe on his free speech.
