{"id":586224,"date":"2023-08-08T20:04:30","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T17:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/white-house-mccarthy-lying-to-cave-to-far-right-in-impeachment-stunt\/"},"modified":"2023-08-08T20:04:30","modified_gmt":"2023-08-08T17:04:30","slug":"white-house-mccarthy-lying-to-cave-to-far-right-in-impeachment-stunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/white-house-mccarthy-lying-to-cave-to-far-right-in-impeachment-stunt\/","title":{"rendered":"#White House: McCarthy \u2018lying\u2019 to cave to far-right in \u2018impeachment stunt\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/bidenjoe_mccarthykevin_053123_split-GN_biden-mccarthy.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The White House on Tuesday accused Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) of lying in order to cave to the far-right members of the House Republican Conference and their push for an impeachment inquiry into President Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House Counsel\u2019s Office, dug into McCarthy\u2019s Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance Monday evening, saying he \u201ccontinued lying about President Biden \u2014 making a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of plainly false, widely debunked attacks in order to promote the extreme far right\u2019s baseless impeachment stunt that even some members of McCarthy\u2019s own caucus are expressing concerns about pursuing.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>McCarthy on Fox News compared the Biden administration to the Nixon administration, arguing that they both used the federal government to obstruct congressional investigations. Sams called that comparison \u201cbizarre\u201d and \u201cdemonstrably false,\u201d highlighting that the Biden administration\u2019s Treasury Department and the FBI provided the now GOP-led House Oversight Committee with records and access.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy on Fox News echoed what House Republicans have characterized as bribes involving then-Vice President Biden and his son Hunter Biden\u2019s business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>Sams referred to the testimony released last week of Hunter Biden\u2019s old business associate Devon Archer. In the testimony, Archer\u00a0couldn\u2019t corroborate allegations\u00a0that Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky made two $5 million payments to Hunter Biden and his father. Archer also said he would disagree with the conclusion that then-Vice President Biden was bribed by Zlochevsky.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Republicans\u00a0released an FBI form\u00a0that contains an unverified tip that Biden was involved in such a scheme. The tip in the FBI form rests on a years-long allegation that Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in funding to Ukraine unless then-Prosecutor <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Viktor Shokin was ousted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The White House has denied any wrongdoing, and evidence has never been raised showing that Biden called for Shokin\u2019s ouster to help his son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeaker McCarthy has decided the truth should not get in the way of his and House Republicans\u2019 relentless efforts to smear the President. They are prioritizing their own extreme, far-right political agenda at the expense of focusing on what really matters to the American people: working together to make their lives better,\u201d Sams said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>He called pursuing an impeachment inquiry a \u201cshameless and baseless\u201d stunt and said that McCarthy and the GOP should instead be working with the president to bring down inflation and grow the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is, after all, what the American people sent their leaders to Washington to do,\u201d Sams said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement from Sams is the latest example of the White House recently becoming punchier going into 2024,\u00a0increasingly jumping in\u00a0and bashing the GOP.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The White House has hammered Republicans and McCarthy over\u00a0floating that the House would move toward an impeachment inquiry and has been quick with memos and statements to criticize the GOP attacks on the president.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Inc.
