{"id":586906,"date":"2023-08-14T02:11:55","date_gmt":"2023-08-13T23:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/trumps-legal-team-connected-to-georgia-voting-system-breach-report\/"},"modified":"2023-08-14T02:11:55","modified_gmt":"2023-08-13T23:11:55","slug":"trumps-legal-team-connected-to-georgia-voting-system-breach-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/trumps-legal-team-connected-to-georgia-voting-system-breach-report\/","title":{"rendered":"#Trump\u2019s legal team connected to Georgia voting system breach: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/trumpdonald_080323ap_memo-trump-courts.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Prosecutors involved in the Georgia investigation into former President Trump\u2019s attempts to stay in power in 2020 have obtained evidence showing a 2021 voting machine breach was part of a \u201ctop-down push\u201d by Trump\u2019s legal team to access sensitive voting software, according to a new <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/08\/13\/politics\/coffee-county-georgia-voting-system-breach-trump\/index.html\">report<\/a> by CNN.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis reportedly will use this evidence when she presents her case before a grand jury next week, CNN reported Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Willis has led an investigation into efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn 2020 election results in Georgia and is expected to announce charges against Trump and more than a dozen others. This would be Trump\u2019s fourth indictment announced in less than 5 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The connection between Trump\u2019s attorneys and the voting machine breach in Trump-friendly Coffee County in Georgia has been previously\u00a0reported. In September 2022, video footage was released that showed a forensics team hired by Trump\u2019s attorney, Sidney Powell, spent hours handling voting equipment on Jan. 7, 2021. The footage showed the team copying data from the voting machines and handling poll pads containing sensitive voter data.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The incident also compelled Georgia Secretary of State to replace voting machines in the county ahead of the 2022 midterm elections,\u00a0saying\u00a0at the time, \u201cTo allay the fears being stoked by perennial election deniers and conspiracy theorists, we\u2019re replacing Coffee County\u2019s election machines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new reporting from CNN, however, reveals conversations among key Trump allies ahead of the voter machine breach.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the text messages, CNN reported, a local elections official who helped facilitate the voting machine breach sent a \u201cwritten invitation\u201d to Trump\u2019s attorneys six days ahead of the breach. Former Coffee County elections official Misty Hampton reportedly authored the letter. She, along with Rudy Giuliani and Powell, according to CNN, have been questioned on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>The letter giving \u201cwritten invitation\u201d to access voting machines was shared widely with a group of Trump allies, CNN reported, including with members of the firm Powell hired to help with the operation, Sullivan Strickler.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Giuliani\u2019s attorney, Robert Costello, reportedly told CNN that Giuliani \u201chad nothing to do with this,\u201d and \u201cYou can\u2019t attach Rudy Giuliani to Sidney Powell\u2019s crackpot idea.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Text messages obtained by CNN, however, seem to reference Giuliani multiple times, referring to him as \u201cthe Mayor,\u201d in connection with the \u201cwritten invitation\u201d and with plans for the breach. Giuliani has been informed he was a target of the investigation in Fulton County.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A text message from a Sullivan Strickler employee to a group chat read on Jan. 1, 2021, \u201cJust landed back in DC with the Mayor huge things starting to come together!\u201d and \u201cMost im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely, we were just granted access \u2013 by written invitation! \u2013 to Coffee County\u2019s systems. Yay!\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>CNN also obtained text messages that showed efforts to gain access to the Coffee County\u2019s voting system started in mid-December.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hampton, while serving as the top election official in the county, was spreading theories about Dominion voting machines, which caught the attention of Trump officials, who reached out to her to \u201cobtain as much information as possible.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In early December, Hampton refused to validate the recount results in Georgia by the deadline, delaying certification of Biden\u2019s victory. She represented the only county in Georgia that failed to certify the results of the election, CNN reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Republican presidential candidate Will Hurd responded on Sunday to the CNN report by describing it as a prime example of why the issue in question, he said, is not a matter of First Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about a president trying to overturn an election and creating a conspiracy. This kind of infrastructure is considered critical infrastructure, and it\u2019s supposed to be defended. The Trump team tried to get access in other places. And they went through the legal process, and the courts gave access to some of the information,\u201d Hurd said in an interview on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this case, they weren\u2019t getting it, so they tried to take it themselves. And, to me, it\u2019s an indication of how fragile our election system is and how Donald Trump\u2019s efforts were making us increase our lack of trust in our systems, and one more example of why Donald Trump is running for president, is because he\u2019s trying to stay out of jail, because, as more of this information comes out and as the American people recognizes the extent of his baggage, they\u2019re getting sick and tired of it,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
