The order is set to come into effect next year, and the US will be waiting to see if its closest ally will follow suit. However, for now, the UK says it will consider the measures taken by its transatlantic partner, as it continues to evaluate security implications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis executive order on outward investment gives important clarity on the US <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach,\u201d a spokesperson for the government said in a statement shared with the <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/cfcfcae7-3af9-4d6f-b690-a45ea864cf5e\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> earlier today. \u201cThe UK will consider these new measures closely as we continue to assess potential national security risks attached to some investments.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The forthcoming ban includes new private-equity, venture-capital and joint-venture investments in advanced computer chips, quantum computers, and certain AI systems. Furthermore, companies already doing business in China will need to notify the government of new investments in the sectors. In the <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/the-atlantic-declaration\/the-atlantic-declaration\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">declaration on cooperation on export controls<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between the US and the UK signed in June, the parties agreed to undertake a review of export control, focusing on \u201cend users of concern.\u201d Britain further said it would update its control regime to better \u201ctackle sensitive technology transfers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UK has also stated it is ready to remain closely tied to the approach of the US, especially when it comes to military technologies, and \u201crespond effectively\u201d to any impact British capital and technology could have on shared security concerns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mainland China is not a huge destination for UK foreign investment, attracting \u00a310.7bn (\u20ac12.4bn) in 2021, compared to the \u00a3461.4bn (\u20ac537.5bn) that flowed westward across the Atlantic.
