Chico Del Vec, a founding member of\u00a0Junior M.A.F.I.A., has reportedly passed away.<\/p>\n

Chico\u2019s death was first reported on Monday (August 14) by\u00a0Special Ed, who tweeted: \u201cJust got a call. Rest In Peace Chico Del Vec. Junior Mafia.\u201d<\/p>\n

While a cause of death has yet to be revealed, Ed told\u00a0AllHipHop<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in a brief statement: \u201cI don\u2019t have much details other than they found him in his room.\u201d<\/p>\n

As news<\/a> of Chico Del Vec\u2019s passing spread, reactions began pouring in from across the Hip Hop community, including from those closest to him.<\/p>\n

Fellow Junior M.A.F.I.A. member\u00a0Lil Cease appeared to react to the tragic news on his Instagram Stories<\/a>, where he posted sad face, black heart and praying hands emojis along with the caption, \u201c#JM.\u201d<\/p>\n

Faith Evans, who worked with the Brooklyn crew at the height of their popularity,\u00a0posted similarly despondent emojis<\/a>\u00a0on Instagram underneath a throwback photo of her hanging out with Junior M.A.F.I.A.<\/p>\n

Junior M.A.F.I.A.\u2019s Nino Brown was also taken aback by Chico\u2019s death as he\u00a0posted several updates on his Instagram Stories<\/a>\u00a0expressing his shock and sadness.<\/p>\n

\u201cNah Chico wtf [sad face emojis],\u201d he wrote, before adding: \u201cThis one HURT man nah Chic wtf just saw u. Sorry can\u2019t talk without crying so don\u2019t think I\u2019m ignoring y\u2019all y\u2019all don\u2019t [know].\u201d<\/p>\n

Easy Mo Bee, the producer behind some of\u00a0Biggie\u00a0and Bad Boy\u2019s biggest hits including \u201cGoing Back to Cali,\u201d \u201cWarning\u201d and \u201cFlava In Ya Ear,\u201d posted a lengthy and heartfelt tribute to Chico Del Vec on Instagram, in which he praised the late rapp<\/a>er\u2019s positive energy and character.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was in denial all day since the very first post that I saw,\u201d he wrote. \u201cJust didn\u2019t want to believe that it was true. My eyes literally watered up a little bit. Chico was the kinda dude that checked in with me often. He would just call me up and be like \u2018What up Mo Bee. You good?\u2019 Never wanted anything. Just checking up on me. That\u2019s who he was.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me say something. This life can be so short. So cherish the good ones while they\u2019re still here because any day could be their last. Always be good to yourself and appreciate the small things. The vanities and all the money in the world won\u2019t keep you happy. It is the love of God, family and kindred spirits like Chico that will put a smile on your face and make this life worth living.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cRest In Peace to a good dude and condolences to the entire #JuniorMafia, Chico\u2019s family and all his loved ones. #KeepYourSoulTogether #HoldOnTight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Comprised of childhood friends of The Notorious B.I.G., Junior M.A.F.I.A. released their debut album\u00a0Conspiracy<\/em>\u00a0in 1995, which spawned the career-defining hits \u201cPlayer\u2019s Anthem\u201d and \u201cGet Money,\u201d both of which cracked the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n

The group disbanded in 1997 following the death of Biggie, who was\u00a0shot and killed in Los Angeles at the tender age of 24, but their legacy lived on in\u00a0Lil Kim, who established herself as not just a solo star, but arguably one of the greatest and most influential female rappers of all time.<\/p>\n

In 2005, Lil\u2019 Cease, Kleptomaniac and Larceny reunited to release Junior M.A.F.I.A.\u2019s second and final album,\u00a0Riot Musik<\/em>, but it failed to replicate the success of its predecessor.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0R.A. The Rugged Man\u00a0wrote on Twitter while mourning his death, Chico Del Vec \u201cwas a key member of Junior M.A.F.I.A. and a big part of Biggie\u2019s life.\u201d He was famously shouted out on B.I.G.\u2019s\u00a0Ready to Die<\/em>\u00a0track \u201cSuicidal Thoughts,\u201d on which he rapped:\u00a0\u201cCall my n-gga Chic, tell him that my will is weak.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
