Bush\u2019s administration,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ef3LqYl0E9o\">said in an interview<\/a>\u00a0with former White House press secretary and MSBNC host Jen Psaki.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThere are people that on Jan. 6, went to the Capitol \u2014 maybe not at the clear direction of [former] President Trump \u2014 but certainly, he did nothing to stop what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened that day,\u201d Gonzales continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gonzales said he thinks it would be \u201cfair\u201d for Trump to go to prison if he is successfully prosecuted by special counsel Jack Smith, while noting \u201cwe\u2019re a long way from there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Washington grand\u00a0jury indicted Trump\u00a0earlier this month over his efforts to remain in power after losing the 2020 election.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>In\u00a0its 45-page indictment, the Justice Department (DOJ) alleged Trump led a campaign of \u201cdishonesty, fraud and conceit,\u201d to obstruct a \u201cbedrock function\u201d of a democracy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump faces four counts: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The two charges relating to obstructing an official proceeding carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, while conspiracy against rights carries a maximum sentence of 10 years and conspiracy to defraud the United States carries a maximum five-year sentence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors allege Trump led a conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and was central to a campaign to stop the certification of votes on Jan. 6, 2021.
