“#FBI warns Chicago gangs have \u2018shoot on sight\u2019 pact against cops<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Dozens of Chicago street gangs have made a pact to \u201cshoot on-sight any cop that has a weapon drawn on any subject in public,\u201d according to an FBI warning.<\/p>\n

The FBI\u2019s \u201cPotential Activity Alert\u201d warns that almost three dozen gangs have reached the agreement, including the Vice Lords, Black P Stones and Latin Kings, according to ABC7 Chicago, which obtained a copy.<\/p>\n

\u201cMembers of these gang factions have been actively searching for, and filming, police officers in performance of their official duties,\u201d warns the alert sent to local law enforcement, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe purpose of which is to catch on film an officer drawing his\/her weapon on any subject and the subsequent \u2018shoot on-sight\u2019 of said officer, in order to garner national media<\/a> attention,\u201d the August 26 alert says.<\/p>\n

The alert became public Monday, just a day after two Chicago officers were shot making a traffic stop early Sunday. Both are expected to survive, and there is no suggestion their shooting was connected to the pact, ABC7 stressed.<\/p>\n

Without addressing directly the FBI alert, Chicago\u2019s top cop, Superintendent David Brown, told a press conference that it was clear \u201cpeople are seeking to do harm to cops.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s bigger than a suggestion,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI think 51 officers being shot at or shot in one year, I think that quadruples any previous year in Chicago\u2019s history. So I think it\u2019s more than a suggestion that people are seeking to do harm to cops.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chicago police told ABC7 the force was aware of the gang threat and would take all necessary measures to safeguard officers.<\/p>\n

Federal authorities did not give more information on the bulletin, which ABC 7 said was from \u201ca contact whose reporting is limited and whose reliability cannot be determined.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
