“#Why Aaron Rodgers was the must-have for Kyle Brandt\u2019s podcast launch<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n When Kyle Brandt sat down for the debut episode of his \u201c10 Questions\u201d Spotify podcast with his personal \u201cfirst-round draft pick,\u201d Aaron Rodgers, the NFL personality didn\u2019t realize the exchange would be like \u201csitting down with a friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, he was the guy I wanted as No. 1, he was my first-round draft pick I call him, and it was an unbelievable get as they say, to land him, and I thought about wanting to have him as No. 1 for a million reasons,\u201d Brandt recently told The Post of the Packers quarterback. \u201cOne: He doesn\u2019t do a lot of interviews, certainly a two-hour exclusive sit-down, it was an unbelievable moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has a lot going on with his career, with his life, with everything just this summer, and also, he\u2019s close to me in age, he\u2019s kind of like a peer. He and I like the same music, same movies<\/a>, we have the same jokes, use the same swear words, it was like sitting down with a friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since its August premiere, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu, and Chiefs superfan Paul Rudd have also taken turns in Brandt\u2019s hot seat as part of his new podcast with The Ringer. Adding a competitive element to the traditional Q&A, Brandt quizzes his guests with personal trivia questions during each episode, with contenders scoring a point for every correct answer for a total possible score of 10.<\/p>\n

Rodgers \u2014 who scored a 6 out of 10 \u2014 spoke about a variety of topics during his episode with Brandt, including the moment Green Bay selected Utah State\u2019s Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick in this year\u2019s NFL draft.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did that interview, it was very unusual, on a Friday night. I mean it was like 8 or 9 o\u2019clock because it\u2019s like this, it\u2019s not in a studio, we can do it whenever,\u201d Brandt said, \u201cAnd we just talked on a Friday night, had drinks, and shot the s\u2013t, and he had nowhere to go and a lot of things to say. It was one of those moments where you feel like you have a whale on the line and that whale is drinking and you\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019re going to set up shop, I\u2019m going to ask you everything\u2026\u2019 couldn\u2019t have been cooler.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brandt also recalled his relaxed exchange with the seemingly ageless Paul Rudd.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had an incredible talk with Paul Rudd, and went all up and down about \u2018Anchorman\u2019 and \u2018The Avengers\u2019 and why he doesn\u2019t age and all that stuff, and it\u2019s the same vibe,\u201d Brandt said. \u201cHe\u2019s sitting there in this little kind of sports bar he has in his basement, he\u2019s got a jersey on\u2026 it\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for future podcasts guests, while Arnold Schwarzenegger and son-in-law Chris Pratt are on the wish list \u2014 \u201cby total coincidence,\u201d according to Brandt \u2014 he enjoys the idea of having previous guests call out other notable names.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe kind of borrow that idea that people would do for things like the Ice Bucket Challenge, where after you do it, you call someone out,\u201d Brandt said. \u201cEveryone from [Chiefs quarterback] Patrick Mahomes, you\u2019ve gotta do this, to Jack Black to James Holzhauer, the \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 champ, all of them have been called out by contestants already, so we\u2019re app<\/a>roaching them if they\u2019ll come on, so I like the symmetry of that because it\u2019s like, Rodgers says, \u2018Alright, I got a 6 out of 10, James Holzhauer, you\u2019re the greatest \u2018Jeopardy\u2019 player ever, do you think you can get an 8?’\u201d<\/p>\n

Though it remains to be seen if \u201cJeopardy!\u201d GOAT Holzhauer will hop on the pod, Brandt is excited how his guests have taken to the show\u2019s unique set-up, namely Mathieu.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew I had something when he gets on the Zoom session and before we start, he goes, \u2018Dude, I am so nervous for this.\u2019 And I\u2019m thinking, \u2018You played in the Super Bowl, you are a massive star in college, and you\u2019re the Honey Badger, like a household sports name, and you\u2019re nervous for this?\u2019 He\u2019s done ten thousand interviews, and he was nervous because he was thinking about what his score would be,\u201d Brandt said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there\u2019s always this moment where after you ask them the trivia question, they\u2019re pissed that they got it wrong or happy they got it right, and then you\u2019re like, \u2018So here\u2019s why I asked,\u2019 and sometimes it\u2019s really a strange connection, but that\u2019s amusing, too,\u201d he added..<\/p>\n
