She also <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared to take aim at whether former President Trump could beat President Biden and called him out for adding \u201c$8 trillion to our debt.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>While her debate performance underscored her positioning as the adult in the room and crystallized her take on abortion \u2014 likely a deciding issue in 2024 \u2014 what\u2019s unclear is whether it is enough to break through in a Republican primary electorate dominated by Trump.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some note that Haley appeared to be employing a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> election strategy at Wednesday\u2019s debate when she needed to figure out a way to win over primary voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe could be positioning herself as a better general election candidate, but it\u2019s still going to be hard for her to win the primary with that sort of approach,\u201d said Kelly Dittmar, the director of research at the Center for American Women in Politics at Rutgers University.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The latest Real Clear Politics poll average shows Haley polling at 3.2 percent, behind Pence\u2019s 4 percent, Ramaswamy\u2019s 7.2 percent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis\u2019s 14.3 percent and Trump\u2019s 55.4 percent.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, Haley\u2019s team and others in the GOP say she is riding a wave of post-debate momentum.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNikki Haley shined on the debate stage. She was tough and honest, which is exactly what the American people need,\u201d said Annie Dickerson, a veteran GOP fundraiser and founder of Winning for Women Action Fund, which is dedicated to electing GOP women. \u201cShe introduced voters to her vision for a strong and proud America, and it\u2019s resonating.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In a statement to The Hill, Haley\u2019s campaign said the response to her debate performance has been \u201coverwhelming.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoters saw Nikki Haley\u2019s toughness and readiness to be president in last night\u2019s debate,\u201d said Haley spokesperson Olivia Perez-Cubas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley saw the most improvement from voters of all the candidates after the debate, according to a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/interactive\/2023\/poll-republican-presidential-debate\/\">Washington Post\/FiveThirtyEight\/Ipsos survey<\/a>. Before the debate, 29 percent of Republican primary voters who watched the debate said they planned to vote for her. After the debate, that number jumped to 46 percent.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Website traffic to Haley\u2019s campaign surged 10 times the normal amount after the debate, and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> viewership and following more than doubled in the hours after the debate.\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/vivek-ramaswamy-most-google-searched-candidate-gop-debate\">According to Fox News<\/a>, Haley was the second most Googled candidate after the debate, following Ramaswamy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley\u2019s allies have also touted an internal poll commissioned by the pro-DeSantis super PAC that showed Haley rising to third place at 11 percent support. She followed DeSantis at 21 percent support and Trump at 41 percent.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, her allies are pointing to a poll from the left-leaning firm Navigator Research showing 45 percent of independent and independent-leaning voters in Wisconsin said Haley won the debate, while another 42 percent picked Haley when asked: \u201cWho seems like they most care about people like you?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cOverall, the data clearly shows that while Haley\u2019s candidacy is gaining support amongst Republican primary voters, her ability to court Independents in battleground states like Wisconsin make her a prime candidate to take on Joe Biden next fall,\u201d wrote Mark Harris, the lead strategist for the pro-Haley super PAC SFA Fund Inc., in a Friday memo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This data could easily be attributed to the sugar-like high many candidates experience following a nationally televised debate. After all, Wednesday\u2019s debate was watched by a whopping 12.8 million viewers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Haley\u2019s allies say this is the beginning of \u201ca new phase of the campaign.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe have long believed that the campaign really kicked off for Nikki in August, when the first debate took place in Milwaukee, and Americans finally had an opportunity to see what we already know \u2014 she is the best candidate to beat Donald Trump and Joe Biden,\u201d read the memo from SFA Fund Inc.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Officials emphasized the significance of having a woman on the debate stage\u00a0as the party looks to recruit more female candidates and attract more female voters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an organization that\u2019s our goal, is to make it possible for more women to be running for federal office, and seeing her up there and just seeing what a great job she did obviously is very encouraging and inspiring for women across the country,\u201d said Tina Ramirez, spokesperson for the Republican women\u2019s group Maggie\u2019s List.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI understand that being a female politician still presents special challenges, so she\u2019s been dealing with a stage full of men. I\u2019ve been there myself,\u201d she continued.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maggie\u2019s List is not endorsing a candidate in the Republican presidential primary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n        The Hill Elections 2024 coverage<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Republicans who have praised Haley note her stances on various issues, like abortion.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Haley told Pence to \u201cnot make women feel like they have to decide on this issue\u201d after Pence called for a 15-week federal ban on the procedure.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Nikki is going to get a second look from some people based on some stuff she said tonight on abortion,\u201d said Kellyanne Conway, a former Trump adviser, on Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>\u2019s post-debate coverage. \u201cI\u2019m very pro-life, but I like what she said \u2014 that you don\u2019t demonize or punish women. That\u2019s important.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley\u2019s allies argue she is better situated to make the party\u2019s case for abortion than her presidential rivals. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s a wife, she\u2019s a mom,\u201d said Preya Samsundar, a senior communications adviser at SFA Fund Inc. \u201cThere are just some issues that sound better coming from her and that make more sense coming from her because it is a lived experience, not just something you\u2019re parroting off because a consultant told you or because you read it in a newspaper.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley, like many of the other 2024 GOP contenders, has also been trying to navigate Trump\u2019s dominance among the Republican primary electorate. She served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Trump after criticizing his candidacy during the 2016 Republican presidential primary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Haley was among the majority on stage who raised their hand when asked whether they still would support Trump as the GOP nominee even if he was convicted of a crime. But Haley offered criticism of the former president, particularly on electability. Haley called him \u201cthe most disliked in all of America,\u201d saying it was no way to win a general election.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think in some respects we\u2019re starting to see an avenue in which Nikki Haley can talk about Trump, talk about why she\u2019s the best candidate not only to take him on but to be the nominee and she\u2019s doing it in a way that\u2019s not turning people off,\u201d Samsundar said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her criticism is considerably more tempered than that of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who has blasted the former president repeatedly on the campaign trail.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s still thoughtful about how much it\u2019s an attack on Trump and how much it\u2019s an attack of, \u2018We need something new in the party,\u2019\u201d\u00a0Dittmar said.\u00a0\u201cBut sure, it looks like in this moment she\u2019s a little more willing to do some direct contrast and criticism to Trump, which is a challenge with these primary electorate.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And much of that pro-Trump electorate is crucial in a GOP primary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are going to learn more about her if they didn\u2019t already know about her because she stood out on that stage,\u201d Dittmar said. \u201cBut those aren\u2019t necessarily voters she needs to win the primary.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
