{"id":588880,"date":"2023-08-28T04:26:54","date_gmt":"2023-08-28T01:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/pelosi-discusses-grateful-dead-dylan-and-more\/"},"modified":"2023-08-28T04:26:54","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T01:26:54","slug":"pelosi-discusses-grateful-dead-dylan-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/pelosi-discusses-grateful-dead-dylan-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"#Pelosi discusses Grateful Dead, Dylan and more\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/pelosinancy_061323tc03_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) recounted her top concert experiences in a new interview with The Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/politics\/story\/2023-08-27\/nancy-pelosi-grateful-dead-life-after-house-speaker-healing-power-of-music\">new column with The Los Angeles Times<\/a>, Pelosi discussed the transition from being Speaker and the minority leader in the House to now just serving as a member of Congress.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cYou have to remember that for 20 years, either as speaker or [minority] leader, I was responsible for everything that h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened on the floor \u2026 in terms of what happened with the Democrats \u2026 and I didn\u2019t even realize that it was a burden until it was gone and I was like, \u2018Oh, my God. What a relief,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still, obviously, take an interest in the legislation,\u201d Pelosi continued. \u201cAnd I still raise\u00a0<br \/>money for the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She recounted attending a Dead &amp; Co. concert in San Francisco, the home of the former band the Grateful Dead. The House had just passed the defense spending bill on that Friday, giving the former Speaker plenty of time to make it home for the show, she told the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>paper.<\/p>\n<p>She told the lead singer, Bob Weir, that he should wear a hat and socks for the concert if he was cold while she was visiting the band back stage. Weir ended up wearing a hat and Pelosi ended up being gifted the set list, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi was hesitant to name her top favorite show, but reminisced a time when she saw Bob Dylan perform in Argentina on his \u201cBridges to Babylon\u201d tour. She said she brought former Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) to the show.<\/p>\n<p>She also recalled being introduced at a Barbra Streisand concert and explained on how music could unify people.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIn that audience \u2026 they\u2019re not there because they\u2019re Democrats,\u201d she said. \u201cYou\u2019ve got a very mixed group of people. And it just completely drove home the point \u2026 which is that [music] is a unifier. People forget their differences, they don\u2019t even think of it.
