Asa Hutchinson on Friday said he believes he will be able to qualify for the next Republican primary debate, despite doubters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know that many people didn\u2019t think I was gonna make the last debate stage, and I heard your prognosticators already say you don\u2019t think we\u2019re gonna make the next one at the Reagan Library,\u201d he <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MeetThePress\/status\/1697715036116992383\">told<\/a> NBC \u201cMeet the Press\u201d anchor Chuck Todd on Friday. \u201cSo I intend to prove it all wrong. I expect to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The next Republican debate will take place on Sept. 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Southern California. <\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Hill Elections 2024 coverage<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In August, the Republican National Committee (RNC) released the criteria the GOP hopefuls must meet in order to qualify for the second debate \u2014 slightly more stringent than the first debate. <\/p>\n<p>Candidates will need to have a minimum of 50,000 unique donors, including 200 donors in 20 states or more each, according to the RNC. They will also need to poll at a minimum of 3 percent in two national surveys or poll at 3 percent in one national poll and two polls conducted in two early states \u2014 including Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchinson currently <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/president-primary-r\/2024\/national\/\">sits<\/a> at an average of 0.7 percent in national polls among the Republican candidates, according to FiveThirtyEight. That average is a far cry from the leader of the Republican pack, former President Trump, who has a polling average of 50.3 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a really critical part of the campaign when people are looking at alternatives to Donald Trump,\u201d Hutchinson, who has become one of Trump\u2019s most vocal critics, said. \u201cThey\u2019re measuring the field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Signing a loyalty pledge \u2014 or a vow to support the eventual GOP nominee \u2014 was also a requirement. Hutchinson agreed to sign the oath, but has said he doesn\u2019t believe Trump will be the nominee<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll sign the pledge,\u201d he said ahead of the first debate in Milwaukee last month. \u201cI\u2019m confident that Donald Trump is not going to be the nominee of the party, and I\u2019ve always supported the nominee.
