{"id":589550,"date":"2023-09-02T16:18:40","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T13:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/eastman-confident-all-georgia-defendants-will-be-vindicated-at-trial\/"},"modified":"2023-09-02T16:18:40","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T13:18:40","slug":"eastman-confident-all-georgia-defendants-will-be-vindicated-at-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/eastman-confident-all-georgia-defendants-will-be-vindicated-at-trial\/","title":{"rendered":"#Eastman \u2018confident\u2019 all Georgia defendants will be \u2018vindicated\u2019 at trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/08\/eastmanjohn_082223ap_charges.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>John Eastman, previous attorney to former President Trump, said he believes all of the Georgia racketeering case\u2019s 19 co-defendants will be found not guilty at trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if we get a fair trial in Fulton County, whether that\u2019s in state court or federal court, I\u2019m confident that we\u2019ll be fully vindicated,\u201d Eastman said in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6336340029112\">Fox News interview Friday<\/a>. \u201cNot just me, but all the defendants.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Prosecutors allege Eastman and the other defendants, including Trump, participated in a broad scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. They allege Eastman was a lead figure in setting up a fraudulent slate of electoral votes for Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney said the charges against him and others are weak, and said their prosecutions are politically motivated. He called the precedent from such a broad racketeering case against a former president \u201cvery dangerous,\u201d and compared his charges to those in Soviet Russia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShow me the man and I\u2019ll show you the crime,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur federal criminal code and our state criminal code have gotten so expansive and so vague that any one of us can be charged by a creative prosecutor with three felonies a day,\u201d he continued, describing a book by one of his own attorneys.<\/p>\n<p>He defended his actions, saying he had a right to contest the 2020 election legally and that he would do it again if given the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe stakes are very high. If we don\u2019t have fair elections, if we don\u2019t have a rule of law in how those elections are conducted, then one of the most basic premises, the foundation stones of our country, is gone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Eastman has recently come under <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alisondurkee\/2023\/08\/31\/indicted-trump-attorney-john-eastman-admits-on-fox-news-he-pressured-pence-to-delay-certifying-election-results\/?sh=20d05374495c\">criticism<\/a> for his extensive <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> interviews. He frequently speaks about the case online and in the media. That\u2019s an intentional part of his strategy, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis fight is 95 percent political and 5 percent legal, and [I felt that] if I wasn\u2019t talking in the press then I wasn\u2019t entering the ring where the real battle was going on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The trial for two defendants in the case is scheduled to begin Oct. 23, with the date for other defendants \u2014 including Eastman and Trump \u2014 not yet set, but anticipated for spring 2024.
