They said while they plan to open the roads at about noon local time, people should consider delaying the departure to \u201calleviate large amounts of congestion\u201d on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after the organizers warned attendees Sunday that the roads were too dangerous to complete the \u201cexodus,\u201d a term referring to the festival\u2019s conclusion and exit process. Tens of thousands of people who gathered for the festival remained\u00a0stranded in the Nevada desert Sunday after storms swept through the area, prompting warnings for attendees to shelter in place.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said that their \u201cMan Burn\u201d \u2014 the burning of a large wooden effigy \u2014 was supposed to have been burned Saturday night, but it was postponed to Sunday. In a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bmantraffic\/status\/1698503953510519049\">post on X<\/a>, organizers said rainy and muddy conditions and \u201can inability to move heavy equipment and fire safety onsite,\u201d further postponed the event to Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Officials also said they\u00a0are investigating a possible death\u00a0from the festival, but that the death was not caused by weather-related issues.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Bureau of Land Management\u00a0said last week that\u00a0the entrance to\u00a0the event would be closed\u00a0for the remainder of the event, which began on Aug. 27 and was scheduled to end Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
