(DWAC) granted the company a 12-month extension to close the deal with Trump Media &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology<\/a> Group (TMTG), just days before its Sept. 8 merger deadline, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/09\/05\/trump-vote-victory-truth-social-dwac?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=editorial\">Axios<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>This is the company\u2019s second year-long extension.<\/p>\n<p>If the extension vote had failed, DWAC would have been required to liquidate and return the $300 million it raised to shareholders, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/deals\/digital-world-shareholders-vote-extend-time-deal-with-trump-media-company-2023-09-05\/\">Reuters<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for all of the outstanding support,\u201d DWAC CEO Eric Swider said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday. \u201cPlease understand my silence. We remain focused on the task at hand and are watching every word we say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The merger between DWAC and Truth Social\u2019s parent company has been troubled. <\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department announced charges against a former DWAC board member and two others in June for insider trading related to the merger, and the company agreed to pay an $18 million fine to settle fraud charges with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in July.<\/p>\n<p>DWAC and TMTG did not respond to The Hill\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2023 Nexstar Media Inc.
