In what has been <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/un-hottest-summer-climate-change-b7c7936070952da781af01288607b1f1\" data-ylk=\"slk:the hottest summer ever measured;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">the hottest summer ever measured<\/a>, the sizzling city in the Sonoran Desert broke yet another record Saturday when temperatures topped 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43.3 Celsius).<\/p>\n<p>It was the 54th day this year that the official reading at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport made the mark, eclipsing the previous record of 53 days set in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Salerno, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said the hot streak could reach 55 days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do have one more day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>An extreme heat warning remained in effect, with temperatures forecast at 111 F (43.9 C) on Sunday and 106 F (41.1 C) on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Salerno said Phoenix experienced the hottest three months since record-keeping began in 1895, including the hottest July and the second-hottest August.<\/p>\n<p>The daily average temperature of 97 F (36.1 C) in June, July and August passed the previous record of 96.7 F (35.9 C) set three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The average daily temperature was 102.7 F (39.3 C) in July, Salerno said, and the daily average in August was 98.8 F (37.1 C).<\/p>\n<p>In July, Phoenix also set a record with a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/heat-warming-climate-environment-temperature-phoenix-arizona-d7db7d44effcdab554b6a742288eb2be\" data-ylk=\"slk:31-day streak;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">31-day streak<\/a> of highs at or above 110 F (43.3 C). The previous record of 18 straight days was set in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>The sweltering summer of 2023 has seen a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/phoenix-heat-record-48e8d06cd7c103f6bfcc4c883efd6543\" data-ylk=\"slk:historic heat wave;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">historic heat wave<\/a> stretching from Texas across New Mexico and Arizona and into California\u2019s desert.<\/p>\n<p>Worldwide, last month was the hottest August ever recorded, according to the World Meteorological Organization. It was also the second hottest month measured, behind only <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/hot-july-record-climate-change-8baaa159c413ec31939e99206f2be644\" data-ylk=\"slk:July 2023;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">July 2023<\/a>. Scientists blame <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/climate-and-environment\" data-ylk=\"slk:human-caused climate change;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">human-caused climate change<\/a> with an extra push from a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/el-nino-climate-global-warming-world-weather-6eb70f36ce098d931cfcdb82590c4066\" data-ylk=\"slk:natural El Nino;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">natural El Nino<\/a>, which is a temporary warming of parts of the Pacific Ocean that changes weather around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>As of Saturday, Phoenix has tallied 104 days this year with temperatures over 100 F (37.7 C), Salerno said. That\u2019s in line with the average of 111 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>le-digit days every year between 1991 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Maricopa County, home to Phoenix and the most populous county in Arizona, also <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maricopa.gov\/ArchiveCenter\/ViewFile\/Item\/5686\" data-ylk=\"slk:headed;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">headed<\/a> toward an annual record for heat-associated deaths.<\/p>\n<p>County public health officials have confirmed <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maricopa.gov\/ArchiveCenter\/ViewFile\/Item\/5693\" data-ylk=\"slk:194 heat-associated deaths;elm:context_link;itc:0\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">194 heat-associated deaths<\/a> this year as of Sept. 2.
