reptile\u201d<\/a> between 3 and 4 feet long, was first spotted in the Ambrose Brook at Victor Crowell Park in Middlesex County on August 23, according to the Middlesex Borough Police Department.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_E86DE628-234B-1DE1-2847-804B40AFDF43@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Middlesex County is located about 38 miles southwest of New York City.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_166E4419-8955-DDFC-0E68-80463E22A2CE@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      The initial sighting prompted the closure of the park, which has since reopened to the public with no fishing or swimming allowed, Middlesex Borough police said <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/middlesexpd\/posts\/pfbid031BUu4pcExCBgtxjGxfMadjnXVji2EXoPe2A5g4vNNipzZ7WQBySzanKtUmjt7ze6l\">in a statement data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      A Piscataway Township police officer made the big catch around 10 p.m. after a concerned citizen saw the reptile in the township\u2019s Possumtown neighborhood, over 2 miles southeast of where it was first seen in the park, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/piscataway.township\/posts\/pfbid02okMigDrhtoc8BzC874gtWfydoLGqkp98hzNx2afEQ8r87SQQjFzembVHLqsWXgWFl\">officials said.<\/a>\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph Middlesex Borough Patrol Officer Ian Paglia shows the alligator trying to make an escape on a street \u2013 but it is surrounded on both sides by the bright, flashing lights of the officers\u2019 vehicles.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_82106A54-0A33-AA1E-C10E-80463E2737EE@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      The reptile then runs off into the grass, with the officers following, the video from Piscataway Township shows.
