Mary Peltola\u2019s husband dies in plane crash\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/peltolamary_010523gn2_w.jpg?w=900\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Rep.\u00a0Mary Peltola\u2019s\u00a0(D-Alaska) husband has died in a plane accident in Alaska, her chief of staff announced on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are devastated to share that Mary\u2019s Husband, Eugene Peltola Jr.\u2014\u2018Buzzy\u2019 to all of us who knew and loved him\u2014passed away earlier this morning following a plane accident in Alaska,\u201d Peltola chief of staff Anton McParland said in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Rep_Peltola\/status\/1701967057225449805\">statement<\/a> shared to the congresswoman\u2019s account on X, the platform previously known as <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Peltola is returning home to be with family, McParland said, and her team will meet with constituents and \u201ccarry on the work of the office while Mary and her family grieve.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Eugene R. Peltola, Jr., was the former <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bia.gov\/regional-office\/alaska-region#:~:text=Eugene%20R.,tribal%20governments%20and%20tribal%20organizations.\">regional director<\/a> for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Alaska.<\/p>\n<p>Several of Peltola\u2019s fellow lawmakers had already shared their <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepJames\/status\/1701969593873383426?s=20\">condolences<\/a> minutes after the statement was posted. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so terribly sorry, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Rep_Peltola\">@Rep_Peltola<\/a>.
